Assistant Audiologist

Band 3

Job overview

We are looking for an assistant audiologist to assist  with paediatric clinics and administration support in our and Community Services.

The post will be based in Aldershot Centre for Health, with travel to other clinical sites including  Woking Community Hospital, Bourne Hall Health Centre (Epsom) and Orchard Centre (Redhill) and Kingston Hospital being expected.

Our department offers a full range of district-level Audiological services and our service delivery model is audiologist-led.

Main duties of the job

1. To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, within professional boundaries. To be ultimately accountable to the lead clinician for the service, and to seek guidance from senior staff whenever necessary.

2. To undertake the role of assistant during paediatric audiological procedures according to national, professional and local protocols. To justify and document any contraindications or necessary deviation from protocol in the case notes and/or medical notes, seeking guidance on justification if required. To maintain empathy and rapport with the patient/carer during testing to maximise the quality of test results and minimise patient anxiety including identifying the relevant concerns of the patient, any contraindications to procedures, and explaining and carrying out procedures.

3. To accurately record the outcome of any patient contact in the case and/or medical notes (either in writing or electronically), including devices, documentation or advice given, and any relevant information or observations relating to the patient or the test conditions.

4. Ensure preparation of clinic rooms and equipment prior to and after clinic sessions, including calibration checks. To ensure careful use of all expensive equipment, and identification of faults in line with local procedures.

Working for our organisation

Following several years of close partnership working and shared leadership, in November 2024 Hounslow and Richmond Community Healthcare (HRCH) and Kingston Hospital NHS Foundation Trust formally joined together and are now called Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust.

The Trust has defined its culture as one that is patient centred and which puts safety first and where all staff members take responsibility, are valued and value each other.

To support this, our five values are that we are all:

Caring – we design and deliver care around each individual patient’s needs and wants.

Safe – we make the safety of patients and staff our prime concern (safety comes first).

Responsible – all staff take responsibility for the hospital, its services and reputation.

Inspiring – we always strive to empower each other to develop and deliver improvements to benefit our patients.

Value each other – we all value each other’s contribution.

Our training, policies, procedures, and practices are all intended to support behaviours in line with our values and all staff are expected to uphold these by Living Our Values Every day.
