Job overview
We have a B7 opening in the Acute Paediatric Therapy team. The role consists of being involved in the day to day running of the service.
The service covers the inpatient services on both our West Middlesex and Chelsea and Westminster and the outpatient musculoskeletal service on the Chelsea site.
We are looking for a candidate with well rounded skills in both inpatients and outpatients as well as an excellent insight and self awareness into their own personality and skillset.
Main duties of the job
- To be responsible for and coordinate the day to day delivery of physiotherapy provision within the paediatric Acute team based at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital.
- To work as an autonomous practitioner in providing physiotherapy assessment and treatment to a designated caseload and maintain up to date physiotherapy records.
- This role includes inpatients across both West Middlesex and Chelsea & Westminster, Musculoskeletal outpatients at Chelsea & Westminster and the potential for a small amount of neonates at Chelsea & Westminster.
- To work as an integral member of a multidisciplinary team providing a holistic service to the child and their family/carer.
- To use evidence based principles/current best practice and specialist skills to assess, plan implement and evaluate interventions and to ensure that all junior members of your team do likewise.
- To participate in CPD and other developmental activities and encourage all members of your team to do accordingly.
- To be responsible for the supervision, teaching and day to day line management of allocated junior staff and students on clinical placement.
- To participate in or lead service development projects including research and audit.
- To be part of the out of hours adults and Paediatrics oncall rota

Essential criteria
- BSc or Diploma in Physiotherapy
- HCPC registration
- Evidence of ongoing CPD
Desirable criteria
- Member of CSP and special interest group
Experience
Essential criteria
- Evidence of experience within different Paediatric Physiotherapy areas
- Evidence of experience as a Band 6 therapist (or equivalent) in paediatrics.
- Experience of working as part of an MDT
- Evidence of appraisal and supervision of junior members of staff and students
- Evidence of working in oncall situations
Desirable criteria
- Team leader experience
- Evidence of involvement in service development
Skills and knowledge
Essential criteria
- Demonstrates specialist knowledge of paediatric assessment and treatment interventions
- Demonstrates advanced clinical reasoning skills
- Able to work independently and monitor workload of team
- Demonstrates evidence based practice within practice
- Knowledge of statutory requirements and legislation relating to children and families
