**Fixed Term Role till the end of Jan 2025**

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Elective Orthopaedic Team as a band 7 Team Lead Occupational Therapist at Chase Farm Hospital. We are looking for a dynamic and professional therapist to join our friendly and supportive team, consisting of experienced Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists and Therapy Support Workers, supported by a Clinical Lead Therapist. The therapy team is integral to the ward, working closely with nursing and medical colleagues to assess and treat patients in line with the principles of the Enhanced Recovery Pathway.

This post offers a varied role for the successful candidate. The successful candidate will be working on both the elective surgical ward and day of surgery ward, as required, alongside an integral role within the pre-operative assessment service, as part of our Elective arthroplasty pathway.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Manage and prioritise your own caseload effectively, by utilising a high level of clinical reasoning, organisational and prioritisation skills
  • Carry out comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments, including complex standardised assessments
  • Evaluate treatment and use reflective practice to improve patient care
  • Demonstrate sound clinical reasoning skills and apply these when considering the use of equipment and adaptations to maximise independence
  • Be flexible to fluctuating priorities and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrate efficient and effective discharge planning
  • Apply excellent communication skills with patients, carers, and MDT colleagues, including attending daily board rounds, MDT and other meetings
  • Take a lead role in the teaching, supervision, and appraisal of junior staff and students, with support of the Clinical Lead
  • Have a lead role in developing the Elective Orthopaedic service including quality improvement and service development
