Main duties of the job

We have an exciting opportunity for 2 x Senior Employee Relations Advisors on a permanent basis. 

Your role will be to support, give advice and guide a range of all people management matters and mentor junior staff. 

The current role you shall be working with the Employee Relations Specialist providing expert advice and support as a Senior Employee Relations Advisor specifically to employees. 

The post holder will be responsible for providing high quality people management advice and guidance to employees ensuring they are in keeping with RFL Trust policies and procedures. The post holder shall provide guidance on sensitive matters, as well as coaching/responding to staff face to face, by e-mails, MS Teams and telephone queries.

As part of the pro-active management process, you will be expected to develop strategies for managing staff sickness/absence and other people management policies and processes.

A degree of flexibility will be given to the role but as the role is to support all hospital sites there is an expectation of regular on site presence and cross site travelling.

  • Educated to degree level or equivalent (normally gained through extensive professional work experience within a Qualifications HR environment)
  • Graduate CIPD

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Employee relations experience in a complex, multi-disciplinary and culturally diverse organisation
  • Experience of operating effectively in a customer facing environment
  • Up to date knowledge of employment legislation and understanding of the risks of non-compliance
  • Experience of advising managers on complex and serious individual and/or collective conflict situations including disciplinary, capability and grievance issues
  • Experience of supporting effective organisational change initiatives
  • Experience of working in a multi-unionised environment
  • Well developed understanding and awareness of best practice employee relations methodologies
Desirable criteria
  • Experience and knowledge of NHS Terms and Conditions of Service including Agenda for Change
  • Knowledge and experience of using HR systems, example oracle
  • Experience of preparing Employment Tribunal information

Skills & Aptitudes

  • Able to plan and organise the work of themselves and others to ensure the achievement of targets and outcomes
  • Able to provide direct support to managers on complex case management issues.
  • Well developed written and oral communication skills
  • Able to analyse complex information and identify appropriate recommendations
