Employment, Training and Education Advisor

Band 4

We have been working together in a Partnership between Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust and Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust for some time, with a single Chair and Chief Executive since 2021 and single Executive Team since 2022. We launched our North London Mental Health Partnership Strategy in May 2023 and in July 2023 our Boards agreed that coming together to create one new Trust is best for our service users, our staff and our local communities. Subject to final approvals, we will be formally established as one new Trust on 1 October 2024.

Our new trust website is: Home | North London Mental Health Partnership

Job overview

We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated full time Band 4 Employment, Training and Education (ETE) Advisor to join our Occupational and Vocational Team at the North London Forensic Service (NLFS). The service manages and facilitates the transition of high-risk service users with severe and enduring mental illness through secure inpatient services into the community, working across to the boroughs of Camden, Islington, Barnet, Enfield & Haringey. The post involves working across the male and female low and medium secure inpatient wards, within the community with service users under the outreach teams, and with our learning disability client group.

Main duties of the job

The ETE Advisor will be responsible for providing information, advice and guidance to the client group in regards to Education, Training & Employment opportunities within their local area. The ETE Programme uses a recovery-orientated approach to deliver personalised support tailored specifically to meet the needs and aspirations of each individual. Service aims are focused on co-production with an emphasis on encouraging social inclusion, improving self-esteem, confidence, self-belief and hope for the future, cultivating the discovery or re-discovery of a sense of personal identity; and developing meaningful structure promoting inclusion in their local communities.

Working for our organisation

The partnership between Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust (BEH) and Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust (C&I) is going from strength to strength since it was originally established in 2021 forming the North London Mental Health Partnership.

In order to meet the needs of the new Partnership services you may be required from time to time to work at different locations to your normal place of work. This may mean that you are required to work at any location that fall under Barnet, Enfield and Harringay Trust and Camden and Islington Trust. The Trust reserves the right to require staff to work at such other places or locations as it considers reasonable and necessary on a temporary or permanent basis.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will be based at Chase Farm Hospital and be required to work on the secure wards and travel across the boroughs of Camden, Islington, Barnet, Enfield and Haringey to support those under the outreach teams. The post requires autonomous working, as well as contributing to the wider multidisciplinary team, attending weekly meetings, face to face contact with service users, supporting individuals in travelling to courses/employment and developing links with external services. Clear and adaptable communication, both verbal and written, risk assessment skills, and contribution to clinical discussion is a vital part of the job.

For more information about this post please contact Kate Williams, ETE Lead on 0208 702 5485 / [email protected].
