We have been working together in a Partnership between Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health NHS Trust and Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust for some time, with a single Chair and Chief Executive since 2021 and single Executive Team since 2022. We launched our North London Mental Health Partnership Strategy in May 2023 and in July 2023 our Boards agreed that coming together to create one new Trust is best for our service users, our staff and our local communities. Subject to final approvals, we will be formally established as one new Trust on 1 October 2024.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a CAMHS Community Mental Health Practitioner to join the Enfield CAMHS – Generic and Neurodevelopmental (NDS) Team.

The Generic/NDS Team provides a comprehensive range of assessment and therapeutic interventions. The team further, provides consultation to professionals, as well as  assessment and treatment for Neurodevelopmental conditions. 

The post holder will be joining a supportive multi-disciplinary team, using formulation and drawing on different clinical approaches in line with the THRIVE Framework. 

We welcome applications from individuals with diverse backgrounds who are enthusiastic, highly motivated and resourceful individuals and keen to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

The post holder will provide assessments and deliver interventions for a broad range of mental health conditions meeting specialist CAMHS criteria, including around management of risk and safeguarding. The role is mainly clinic-based and will focus on the delivery of timely, high quality interventions.  This position provides opportunities to work with and develop links with health and social care as part of the THRIVE Framework to delivery of care for young people. The role will appeal to a skilled CAMHS practitioners with an appropriate registration who enjoys specialist work in a dynamic CAMHS service.

 

Regular clinical supervision will be provided, exploring development opportunities for the post holder. We will support individuals to develop specialist skills and pursue specific areas of interest or service development projects where appropriate. We also hold regular CPD and service development days across the whole service.

The post holder will be a psychological therapist working with child & families. They will provide both direct and indirect care working with colleagues within the multidisciplinary team. They will provide consultation with other clinicians, offering assessments and interventions where indicated. They will have enhanced knowledge / expertise of treatment for children and adolescents with mental illness / disorders.

Qualifications/ Registrations

  • Registered Health or Social Care Professional, i.e. Nurses / Social Workers / Allied Health Professionals
  • Training in therapeutic intervention
  • Risk assessment training within scope of practice.

  • Professional registration related to mental health / child health
  • Recognised therapeutic qualification and accreditation (i.e. Systemic Therapy/ CBT/ PBS / Behavioural Therapy)

Skills/ Abilities

  • Skills in risk assessment & management in relation to mental health and risky behaviour
  • Skills in identifying risk in relation to safeguarding to children/young persons
  • Ability to meet agreed/specified service targets
  • Ability to manage own caseload and time.
  • Demonstrate high standards in written communication, including reports and letters to referrers.
  • Good computer skills, including use of Microsoft applications, such as Word and Outlook
  • Conflict resolution skills.

  • Experience of working within children & young people mental health service
  • Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing: complex; highly technical; and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.

Experience/ Knowledge

  • Experience of participating in multi-agency support for young people across the range of intervention from TAF to Child Protection
  • Knowledge of child protection, Children Act issues and other relevant legislation.
  • At least one-year related post registration / qualification professional experience.
  • Experience of carrying out and reviewing findings from routine outcome monitoring
  • Ability to work under pressure, using personal and emotional resources in dealing with distressing circumstances.

  • Knowledge of and experience of working in mental health, including with children and young people with serious mental health problems.
  • Knowledge of the iTHRIVE framework, to improve services for children and young people’s mental health.
  • Experience of working in a multidisciplinary setting and working with different professional disciplines involved in the provision of children and young people’s health, education and social care
  • Experience of having worked therapeutically with children and young people, with complex and traumatic early life experiences.
