Job overview

We are seeking to appoint an experienced Podiatrist to work within the Greenwich Community Podiatry Team.     

We are looking for an experienced, highly motivated, enthusiastic, and flexible podiatrist to join our friendly and dedicated team at Oxleas.  This role will involve working across multiple sites in the community including home visits. 

Applicants must be registered with the HCPC and have a degree or equivalent in Podiatry with a Local Anaesthesia certificate. It is essential that you have the ability to work flexibly, and you should be a driver with access to a car for work purposes.

Main duties of the job

Our service delivers comprehensive high risk podiatry care to the residents of Greenwich. 

You will be involved in the assessment and planning of individual patient care, working independently and as part of a team, so excellent communication, diagnostic, and team building skills are essential.

We deliver patient care to a variety of clinical settings including community health centres, patients homes and residential / care homes.  You will be responsible for undertaking advanced diabetes foot care in line with NICE guidance and associated care planning and risk management. 

This role also requires you to undertaken line management responsibilities including recruitment, health roster, complaints investigations and performance reviews.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will have excellent clinical skills and experience of treating patients with a wide variety of long-term conditions, especially those with high-risk clinical needs. Our aim is to deliver excellent quality care to patients to maintain their mobility and independence. You must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for contributing to the service provided by the Trust.

Oxleas are committed to CPD and training initiatives to achieve personal and as well as service objectives. We offer regular 1:1 supervision meetings; an annual PDR, frequent peer reviews and monthly in-house CPD sessions. The team also has access to a dedicated CPD training budget to support staff development. We support the training of Podiatry students, and our Podiatrists are actively involved in a clinical educator programme with the University of East London.

Qualifications & Training

Essential criteria
  • Bachelor of Science - Podiatry
  • HCPC Registration
  • Previous line management experience
Desirable criteria
  • IRMER Certificate
  • Teaching, Mentoring, Supervision Experience
  • Post graduate qualification in relevant areas

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Minimum 3 years working at a band 6 level
  • Domiciliary & Care Home Experience
  • Previous NHS Experience
Desirable criteria
  • Experience across community and acute
  • MDT working

Specialist Clinical Skills

Essential criteria
  • Advanced debridement skills and wound care knowledge
  • Experienced in advanced neurovascular assessments of lower limb
  • Advanced knowledge of complex wound treatments
Desirable criteria
  • Casting/ offloading experience

Personal Attributes

Essential criteria
  • Evidence of team working
  • Access to a car and ability to drive
