It is an exciting time to join our teams in Barnet and we are seeking enthusiastic and skilled colleagues to join us as we build on existing models of care and introduce new ways of working. Our transformation plans over the next 12 months will include further integration with primary care, planned and unplanned care models, and a greater emphasis on population health. All being delivered with the support and leadership of a forward thinking Senior Management Team. 

The Barnett Podiatry Service is a progressive team with new roles becoming available to meet the demands on the service.  In this role you will be at the forefront of delivering new models of care through transformation that meets the needs of our community.

Prif ddyletswyddau'r swydd

You will be able to contribute to the creation of what that looks like as well as positively impacting and enhancing the experiences of our patients in Barnet. You will provide day-to-day clinical care in a supported environment and within a dynamic team. Providing day-to-day professional leadership, you will ensure the needs of patients are placed at the centre of care delivery while providing assurance that standards of clinical care within a designated area is of the highest standard attainable. 

You will need to demonstrate empathy and compassionate leadership skills alongside excellent interpersonal skills with a strong ability to teach and inspire colleagues through active demonstration of clinical practice and leadership. At the same time be willing to learn and develop within this Band 6 role.

Swydd ddisgrifiad a phrif gyfrifoldebau manwl

  • To actively participate in the CLCH Podiatry band 6 rotational programs.
  • To autonomously assess and diagnose patients with a diverse range of medical and podiatric conditions, using appropriate diagnostic techniques, skills and tools. This includes sharp debridement of lesions, administration of local anaesthesia, whilst quantifying the maximum safe doses, nail surgery, and use of noxious caustics.
  • To create and implement a tailored treatment and specialized care plans using a variety of appropriate treatment regimes for a range of patient groups including those in the ‘high risk’ and ‘at risk’ categories focusing on the management of primary foot pathologies.
  • To recommend the use of a limited number of prescription medicines

  • • BSc Degree In Podiatric Medicine or Diploma (if qualified prior 1991)
  • • Evidence of continual professional and personal development
  • • Registration with the Health Professions Council
  • • Certificate in local anaesthesia

Experience

  • Post graduate clinical experience of multidisciplinary and interagency working
  • Experience of working with a wide range of patient and disease / pathology types including the at-risk and high-risk foot

  • Knowledge of treatment options and skills required in the management of High risk tissue breakdown
  • Up-to-date knowledge of clinical issues and treatment development
  • Effective oral, listening and written communication in order to negotiate and persuade patients and carers compliance and commitment to their treatment and care plans
  • Ability to evaluate patients concerns and needs and propose effective solutions
  • Ability to undertake intricate work in using sensitive diagnostic tools and a range of surgical instruments. e.g. in the management and debridement of poor tissue viability wounds and nail surgery  Organisational and planning skills to manage your own work time and domiciliary caseload  To be competent in the use of treatment and diagnostic tools (including, Doppler, scalpel techniques, syringe etc)
  • IT Skills including use of Internet, e-mail, Word Processing

  • Ability to cope with a busy demanding and varied workload able to cope with the demands of moving between sessional clinics, on foot, by transport. This may include carriage of clinical equipment on home visits. .

  • Ability to multi-task and concentration in order to apply continued diagnostic and analytical skills throughout the working day  Ability to cope with patients anxieties and employ tactical techniques in order to help support patients and allay anxieties
  • Adaptable to a variety of working environments and the ability to cope with sometimes distressing settings and work tasks including wound care , neglected feet and exposure to malodour, body fluids including blood and wound exudate .
