Resuscitation Officer

Full Time, Permanent

The Resuscitation Officer will be responsible for the planning, organisation and delivery of both basic and advanced support training throughout the Trust. The post holder will be expected to respond to adult cardiac arrest calls, paediatric and neonatal emergency calls, acting as an expert member of the team and facilitating experiential learning and team debrief. 
The postholder will encourage evidence-based practice Trust wide by developing and revising hospital resuscitation guidelines, procedures and training in the light of new  research and audit.

Main duties of the job

Develop robust educational systems to ensure all members of the cardiac arrest teams 
Assist with the design the design and delivery of basic and advanced life support training programmes in Adult, Paediatric and Newborn Resuscitation 
Ensure staff have access to both internal and external accredited resuscitation courses

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

a. Will have a clinical background of autonomous practice and wide-ranging experience in 
all aspects of resuscitation, including experience of leading cardiac arrests.
b. Will have significant experience working as a Band 6 or above, as a Registered Nurse, 
HPC Registered Paramedic or HPC Registered ODP, ideally with management 
experience at ward/departmental level. The postholder must hold a recognised 
teaching qualification and a current Resuscitation Council (UK) ALS Instructor’s 
certificate.
c. Will have in-depth, highly specialised clinical knowledge that can be applied across a 
range of clinical areas.

d. Will have demonstrated the ability to work on their own and as a part of a close knit 
team in emotionally and intellectually stressful circumstances.
e. Will have the skills, knowledge and experience to provide detailed advice to clinicians 
across a wide range of specialties and will maintain and further develop their clinical 
skills by proactively working clinical shifts.
f. Will be fully computer literate with a high level of IT skills.
g. Will maintain professional registration, Resuscitation Council (UK) instructor status
