Band 7 – Full-time 37.5 hours per week

 

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Hepatology Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), based primarily at Croydon University Hospital but often needed to provide support at the outreach clinics within the community.

The Hepatology CNS will work closely with the Consultant Hepatologist, as part of the multi-professional team, to ensure that patients receive the highest standard of care and support from time of diagnosis, through treatment and follow-up.

Are you:

  • A recognised expert in this field?
  • Able to assisted in promoting effective and informative learning experiences for students?
  • Also able to co-ordinate clinical research in hepatitis, including trials?
  • All while actively disseminating best practice through publication and conference attendance, and participating in nursing research and national working parties?

Main duties of the job

To provide a high quality service within Croydon Health Services NHS Trust to all patients with hepatology needs.

This includes the provision of:

  • A Fibroscan service
  • Viral hepatitis clinics
  • Day-case ascetic drain procedures for patients with liver disease via a nurse-led clinic

It is anticipated that the hepatology service will develop further over the next few years.  Flexibility in how the service is developed by the multi professional team will be required and this will be a necessary component of the Hepatology Clinical Nurse Specialist’s role.
