You a newly qualified staff nurse, a nurse looking to move into children's community services or a community nurse wanted to obtain a specialist CCN qualification?
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Children's Community Nursing and Paediatric Neurodisability Nursing Team in Croydon. We have a training opportunity to undertake the Specialist Practitioner Course in Children's Community Nursing fully funded at a Band 5 salary.
The post will work alongside our highly experienced CCNs and Specialist CNSs to undertake placement within the Trust alongside study at The University of Hertfordshire. Post holders will work across the Children's Community Nursing Team and Paediatric Neurodisability Nursing Service to develop skills and obtain a specialist CCN qualification over a 1 year period.

Main duties of the job
This is a 1 year training post and will be supported in the role as a Children's Community Nurse by highly skilled CCNs and Specialist Nurses.
The post holder has responsibility for the provision of competent professional nursing care, to meet with individual needs of the designated patient population. The post holder will be accountable for the delivery of such care to a specific group of patients, and take charge of the department on a regular basis. The post holder will organise own time and that of junior staff, delegating to junior staff and learners, and participating in teaching and education programmes for staff and patients.

CUH provides more than 100 specialist services and is home to the borough’s only Emergency Department and 24/7 maternity services, including a labour ward, midwifery-led birth centre and the Crocus home birthing team.
Purley War Memorial Hospital (PWMH) in the south of the borough offers outpatient care, including diagnostic services, physiotherapy and ophthalmology services run by Moorfields Eye Hospital, alongside an onsite GP surgery.Our experienced district nursing teams, Allied Health Professionals and community matrons look after for people of all ages across Croydon and our Children’s Hospital at Home cares for children with long-term conditions without them having to come to hospital. - RSCN/Child Branch / RN Child.
- NMC Registration

- Evidence of study at diploma or degree level
- Mentorship Qualification
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Knowledge and awareness of contemporary issues in community children’s nursing
- Understanding of Clinical Governance and ability to work with others to address.
- Awareness of current issues, policies and frameworks affecting healthcare practice
- Safeguarding Children
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of primary healthcare team.
Experience
Essential criteria
- Current experience of working in acute children’s nursing.
Desirable criteria
- Discharge planning experience.
- Special interest pertinent to children’s community nursing.
- Experience of working in a CCN team
Skills
Essential criteria
- Commitment to continuing professional development and enhancing clinical skills relevant to community nursing.
- Ability to communicate effectively in a variety of situations within the multi-disciplinary Team
Desirable criteria
- Ability to apply research to promote practice within children’s nursing.
