Job overview
Locum Consultant Community Paediatrician Combined Role : 10 PAs [Community Paediatrician Role – 9 PAs per week with safeguarding rota 1 PA per week] Fixed Term 12 months post
1. Child Development Assessment Clinics –Neurodevelopmental assessment.
2. Assessment for children under 5 years for diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder.
3. Working within Multidisciplinary Integrated Service at the Moor Lane Centre – joint assessments/MDT review/CPIP assessment / development of care pathways
4. Medication review clinics for ADHD and sleep.
5. Provide medical advice to the Local SEND according to statutory legislation and guidance for children with special educational needs.
6. Provide health assessment and medical advice for Children Looked After Service
7. Provide clinical supervision for junior medical staff based within the Integrated Service
Neurodevelopmental Assessment Clinics
This clinic based work includes face to face and virtual assessments for new and review cases presenting with developmental concerns accepted through our single point of access (ITAC). Assessment to consider possible diagnoses of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Developmental Coordination Disorder (DCD), Movement Disorders and Neuromuscular Disorders and Globally Impaired Developmental Profile.
Main duties of the job
Clinical Governance
· The Provider will ensure all clinicians conduct clinical practice in line with NICE (National Institute for Clinical Excellence) clinical guidance.
· The Provider will be expected to register all regulated activities set out within this service specification with the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
· All clinicians delivering the requirements set out within this service specification will adhere to local clinical governance arrangements of their employing organisation’s and actively participate in regular audits to ensure safe practice. The Provider will be expected to provide progress reports to the ISCD Management Board on the timely completion of audits and any areas relating to the ISCD service that require action.
· The Provider shall inform the Head of Service of any serious incidents or near misses in a timely and appropriate manner.
· The Provider shall provide regular clinical leadership and supervision on a monthly basis to the consultant pediatricians delivering the requirements of this specification
· To comply with the Trust’s Clinical Governance Policy and to participate in relevant multidisciplinary and
Uni-professional clinical audit projects
· To undertake Clinical Risk Management and Clinical Governance activities of the department and Trust
· To ensure full and proper records are completed for this purpose
· Participate in QI project appropriate to job plan

Educational
Essential criteria
- • Full GMC Registration with License to Practice (or eligibility to obtain). • MRCPCh or equivalent) • CCT in Paediatrics and on GMC’s Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT from the date of the interview or have confirmed eligibility for Specialist Registration. • Associate Specialist Grade with community paediatric experience
- • Current wide range of Community Paediatrics experience • Training and experience with Safeguarding
Experience in Training, Audit and Research
Essential criteria
- • Ability to teach and train undergraduates and junior doctors. • Experience of clinical audit/ QI projects. • Relevant research articles in peer-reviewed journals.
