Job overview

Royal Marsden Hospital requires a full time and part time Retail Host for catering department serving food and beverages to patients, staff and visitors. Experience in similar role preferred.

Main duties of the job

Ensuring the efficient running of the coffee shop by maintaining adequate stock levels, adhering to all cash handling procedures and ensuring a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness in the coffee shop and the associated areas. To operate a ‘hands on’ Coffee Shop and to deliver a high-quality service and product at all times to our customers, in all catering areas.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

·      Deal with all customers requests a courteous and pleasant manner at all times.

·      Serve food and beverages to our customers.

·      Operation of cash till, receiving of money and giving change. Ensure correct float is allocated to the till. Keeping a minimum amount of cash in the till at any one time for security purposes.

·      Responsible for the security and recording of all cash and voucher sales.

·      Ensure all food and beverage items are attractively presented via appropriate merchandising

·      Order and receive daily food stocks from the catering stores ensuring appropriate stock rotation, and wastage is kept to a minimum, preferably nil.

·      Recording stock movement of all items in the coffee shop on a weekly basis, in conjunction with the Management / Restaurant Supervisor / Operational Manager.

·      Ensuring sufficient supplies of sandwiches and pastry products are available and ensuring wastage is minimal

·      Organisation of daily duties to meet the service demands.

·      Maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene in the Coffee Shop and associated areas at all times, via a cleaning schedule.

SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE/ QUALIFICATIONS

Essential criteria
  • Minimum 1 year catering experience
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Some knowledge of the Health & Safety act
