Deputy Divisional Director - Cancer Services

An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Deputy Divisional Director posts, one in Cancer Services and the other in Clinical Services.  These roles will work in conjunction with the Divisional Management teams to collectively ensure delivery of the organisational strategy, operational planning and financial performance of the Divisions.

Cancer Services is organised across 3 Clinical Business Units (CBUs):

 

CBU1: Breast, Plastics, Lung, Acute Oncology Service (AOS), Kingston Partnership, Joint Thoracic Service (JTS) and also leads on all Medical Day units and Home Care

CBU2: Haematology, Head & Neck and Thyroid, Neuro-oncology, Children & Young People, Sarcoma and Renal Melanoma and also leads on the ambulatory and ward areas for Children and Young People and Haematology  

CBU3: GI, Gynaecology and Urology and also leads on all solid tumour ward across both sites

 

This post holder will work in conjunction with the existing Deputy Divisional Director and be responsible for CBU1 and the strategic divisional work as well as leading on Trust wide programmes of work.  

 

Clinical Services is organised across 4 Clinical Business Units (CBUs):

 

CBU 1: Surgery & Acute Services (Theatres, Critical Care, Anaesthetics, Pain, CAU, APU, CSPs)

CBU 2: Imaging Services (Radiotherapy, Radiology, Nuclear Medicine Physics)

CBU 3: Medicines Management & Clinical Support Services (Pharmacy, Outpatients, Therapies, Palliative Care, Pastoral & Psychological Care)

CBU 4: Pathology & Genetics 

 

The post holder will work in conjunction with the existing Deputy Divisional Director to take on direct responsibility for x2 of these CBUs, ensuring consistent strategic oversight throughout the Division

 

We are looking for credible and influential leaders.  You will demonstrate strong, consistent and effective leadership, enabling delivery of high-quality patient care within available resources. You should possess a proven track record of achievement in all areas of leadership and experience of significant staff and budgetary management. You should be results-driven, have led complex change initiatives and have a record of helping services and staff excel in their levels of performance.

 

Central to these roles is the ongoing engagement of clinical managers in a complex, specialist environment to collaboratively deliver annual business planning, ensuring sufficient capacity and capability to deliver both local and national priorities in addition to supporting the Trust to deliver the research and private care agendas. The post holder will also play a pivotal and proactive role in exploration of new strategic opportunities and alternative models of service delivery across both the Chelsea and Sutton sites and our wider network.  

 

Both Deputy Divisional Director posts will deputise for the Divisional Director when required.

The post holder will support the Divisional Director, Divisional Medical Director and Divisional Nurse Directors with the strategic and operational management of the Cancer Services Division.  The post holder will lead on financial and performance improvement initiatives as well as take a lead on project development and service improvement within the Division.   The Cancer Services Division in structured into three Clinical Business Units each supported by a Clinical Business Unit Manager, Clinical Director and Matron:

The post holder will deputise for the Divisional Director, Cancer Services.  The post holder will have responsibility with key stakeholders for the development and implementation of service provision, research and education programmes. The post holder will also work closely with other local hospitals to deliver pathways of care across the system and work with RM partners to deliver improvements to cancer performance, early diagnosis and survivorship. The post holder will also lead on the direction and development of networks and integrated systems of care for the Trust.

•    Ensure that effective operational management arrangements are in place, ensuring:

-    Delivery of efficient and productive work  processes  and  systems  top  meet/exceed  local /national targets

-    Ensuring cohesive working practices within the division and in collaboration with the other Divisions of the Trust.

•    Ensure business objectives are met, including those derived from local SLAs and Trust Business Plan

•    Ensure Cancer Services is able to meet all national and local performance standards taking corrective action where necessary.

•    To work with all staff to develop changes in clinical practice through the development of research and evidence-based practice which compliments the Trust Business Strategy: promote effective leadership by empowering individuals to take appropriate decisions and encourage team working.

•    Provide   service   lead   for   clinical   records   management   and   ensure   that   statutory   and   Trust requirements for record keeping are met.

•    Lead on complaints with the Clinical Business Units Managers who will, co-ordinate and or draft responses and devise remedial action plans where appropriate
