Qualifications needed:
· Full GMC Registration with a license to practice
· Section 12 certification, or a commitment to work towards this.
· Mastery in the management of a broad range of mental disorders in children, including neurodevelopmental disorders
· At least 4 years of full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part-time basis) of which at least 2 years will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee or shall have equivalent experience and competencies

We are currently recruiting for a community CAMHS Learning Disability Specialty Doctor position in the Canterbury Learning disability CAMHS Community Team, based at George Turle House, 54 London Road, Canterbury, CT2 8JY. This is a new post, that has been created to provide high quality care.
You will join a full-time substantive Community CAMHS Learning Disability Consultant Psychiatrist within the service, and will have the opportunity to influence future direction, treatment, and models of design in the area in which you work.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
You will be expected to:
· Work as part of multidisciplinary teams providing care to children and young people with mental health needs, across Kent.
· Provide senior medical support to the team, and direct input on clinical cases.
· Provide guidance and supervision to the team.
· Work directly with children and young people and their families and liaise as appropriate with other external CAMHS mental health providers, and acute hospitals.
· Work alongside a full-time CAMHS LD Consultant Psychiatrists within the service.
· Develop links already established with the local acute trusts’ A&E departments and inpatient wards.
· Be responsible for patients allocated to them and will assess, manage, plan, and deliver care.
· Offer clinical supervision and teaching to the core trainee on placement.
· Support your peers and the team manager and be an effective team member whilst working on their own initiative.
· Supervise junior colleagues and liaise with other health and social professionals and agencies.

- Registration with the GMC with a licence to practice
- Section 12 Approval or eligibility for it.
Desirable criteria
- A postgraduate qualification in psychiatry
Clinical Experience
Essential criteria
- Mastery in the management of a broad range of mental disorders in children, including neurodevelopmental disorders
- At least 4 years of full-time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a parttime basis) of which at least 2 years will be in a specialty training programme in a relevant specialty or as a fixed term specialty trainee or shall have equivalent experience and competencies.
Desirable criteria
- Experience in managing patients from different cultural backgrounds. Working with interpreters and translators
- Experience of working in multidisciplinary teams
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Good knowledge of the biological, psychological and social determinants of mental health disorders and evidence-based management interventions
- Up to date knowledge of recent DH documentation and NICE Guidelines.
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of change management skills

- Excellent clinical skills.
Desirable criteria
- Clear thoughts on how to involve service users in service development and to provide a service which is experienced as being “service-user friendly”
