On 1 July 2022, NHS North Central London Integrated Care Board (NCL ICB) was established. The ICB is part of North Central London Integrated Care System (ICS). The ICS is a partnership of organisations that come together to plan and deliver joined up health and care services to improve the lives of people in our five boroughs: Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey and Islington.

ICBs are statutory NHS bodies responsible for planning and allocating resources to meet the four core purposes of ICSs:
• to improve outcomes in population health and healthcare
• tackle inequalities in outcomes, experience and access
• enhance productivity and value for money
• help the NHS support broader social and economic development.

North Central London’s population is incredibly diverse, and continues to grow and change. This brings pressure and challenges for the local health and care services that NCL ICB commissions – or buys – on behalf of residents. Education / Knowledge / Qualifications

Essential criteria

Educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in an ICB or equivalent NHS commissioning organisation.
Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development in areas relevant to the role.
Extensive experience in the following areas of the NHS contracting and commissioning cycle: • Developing, leading and delivering high impact NHS and ICS transformation, efficiency and change programmes
Developing high quality, high impact NHS strategies designed to improve outcomes and system performance
Managing complex multi-disciplinary teams delivering a range of NHS/ICS commissioning, contracting, strategy, transformation and efficiency functions
Managing and providing strategic leadership of a range of NHS governance processes such as contracts registers and procurement oversight frameworks
Developing NHS and ICS contracting and procurement frameworks

Desirable criteria

NHS Financial planning and evidence of finance continuing professional development.

Experience

Essential criteria

Experience of managing multiple NHS programmes related to Contracting, Procurement, Transformation, Efficiencies and Service Change simultaneously aimed at a range of strategic and tactical areas.
Experience of producing high quality Integrated Care System level business cases and high quality NHS ICS implementation plans, including but not limited to implementing provider collaborative programmes.
Proven track record of having successfully managed a portfolio of NHS programmes or projects, including significant experience of programme leadership including managing a PMO that reports to a CEO level programme board meeting.

Skills/ Abilities

Essential criteria

Strong NHS provider stakeholder engagement skills, including the provision of high quality written engagement material for external organisations including Local Authority or NHS Provider meetings.

Every three minutes someone in the UK develops dementia: a progressive and complex condition that can be devastating for the whole family. One in two of us will be affected by dementia in our lifetime – either by caring for someone with the condition, developing it ourselves, or both.

Dementia UK is the specialist dementia nursing charity that is there for the whole family. Our specialist nurses, known as Admiral Nurses, provide free, expert advice, support and understanding to help families care for their loved one. Every day, Admiral Nurses help families up and down the country to have the best life possible, for as long as possible.

Purpose of the job/about the role

Dementia UK has entered into an exciting three-year corporate partnership with a national partner. As a key component of this initiative, we will establish face-to-face Admiral Nurse clinics across the UK. This new team will bring Admiral Nursing to high street locations across England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

As part of the national Clinics Programme Team, you will provide in-person biopsychosocial support and advice, sharing your specialist dementia nursing expertise to help families manage the complexities of the condition. Your focus will be on supporting family carers, people affected by dementia, and professionals who require specialist dementia guidance in areas of the UK where Admiral Nurse services are currently unavailable, bringing a much-needed service directly to local communities. Throughout your work, you will consistently promote Admiral Nursing and a family-centred approach to dementia care.

You will receive full support with your continuous professional development from the Admiral Nurse Academy.

As this unique nursing role offers you the opportunity to travel across the country, and will include overnight stays, flexibility is essential. When not delivering face-to-face clinics, you will provide support on our Helpline, working from home.

Admiral Nurse – Delivered Services

Join our Delivered Services team as an Admiral Nurse and bring your specialist dementia nursing expertise to support family carers, people affected by dementia, and professionals who require specialist advice. You’ll be a key member of our team, providing biopsychosocial support through our National Dementia Helpline and Virtual Clinic appointments.

In addition to your core responsibilities, you’ll have the opportunity to lead and support other clinical projects across the charity, benefit from monthly clinical supervision, and participate in a range of learning opportunities to support your ongoing professional development.

As an Admiral Nurse, you’ll be responsible for providing nursing support and expertise, offering practical guidance to colleagues, the general public, those with dementia, and others in supporting family and relationship-centered approaches to dementia care. You’ll also lead and coordinate shifts as required, providing clinical supervision to others and assist with the development, evaluation, audit of the service, carer and supporters in different settings.

To be successful in this position, you’ll need to be an active Registered Nurse on the NMC register with a post-registration qualification or training in dementia care or a relevant subject. You will have significant experience of practicing as an Admiral Nurse or dementia specialist nurse and previously worked with people who have dementia and their family, carer and supporters in different settings.

Strong communication skills are essential, as is a proven track record of providing high standards of clinical leadership and specialist nursing support. You should be adept at providing clinical advice, clinical supervision, and advocating for family carers.
