West London NHS Trust provides a full range of mental health, community and physical healthcare services for children, adults and older people living in the London boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow.
We also provide some specialist services that are commissioned regionally, such as our medium secure services; and nationally, such as the Cassel Hospital for people with complex and severe personality disorder and our high secure services at Broadmoor Hospital.

We are looking to welcome a Band 5 Occupational Therapist. Thank you for taking interest in this exciting new opportunity for a newly qualified or experienced Band 5 Occupational Therapist with an interest in Mental health, community services and recovery.
Following the principles laid out in the Community Mental Health Framework for Adults and Older Adults (2019), the MINT has been developed to provide an innovative, person centred set of interventions focused on individual needs. The post holder will be required:
To provide client-centred occupational therapy interventions to service users with varied and sometimes complex needs, within the MINT Team, alongside multi-disciplinary team members and the occupational therapy team
To actively develop and implement a framework of care, which reflects a holistic approach to service user needs, and the seven pillars of clinical governance.
To work under the supervision of a senior or clinical lead occupational therapist, to apply clinical skills in occupational therapy assessment, treatment planning, intervention and evaluation, which include individual and group orientated approaches.
To contribute to the evaluation and continued development of the occupational therapy service, as well as (after completing appropriate training) taking responsibility for the direct supervision of less clinically experienced qualified staff, support staff and occupational therapy students.

Clinical:
· All interactions with service users should be underpinned with empathy and a clear understanding of the effects of disability in the areas of productivity, leisure and activities of daily living (ADL).
· All interactions should be sensitive and responsive to the service users’ ethnic, cultural and social background, using a range of communication and engagement skills as appropriate to the context.
· To evaluate referrals to the occupational therapy service for occupational therapy intervention, particularly identifying priorities for treatment intervention.
· To provide a comprehensive assessment, treatment planning, intervention and evaluation of the occupational therapy programme for the identified service user group that includes risk assessment with particular reference to service user need within the speciality.
· To analyse, grade and adapt individual and group activities to meet the occupational performance, environmental and vocational needs of service users.
· To plan and implement appropriate discharge, transfer and case closure.
· To work with service users and carers as part of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to implement and evaluate individual treatment plans.
· To apply clinical reasoning skills to effectively manage clinical caseload.
