Highly Specialist Paediatric Occupational Therapist Band 7 – Edgware Community Hospital Whittington Health We are delighted that we are extending Barnet Children’s Integrated Therapies Team through working closely with the Barnet Specialist Inclusion team. Over the next two years Occupational Therapists will be delivering an enhanced support package in mainstream primary and secondary schools. This role will have a focus on interdisciplinary working to upskill and train school staff and parents.     This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated and experienced Occupational Therapist experienced working with children and young people in the community. You will work closely as part of a dynamic and innovative integrated therapy Team which includes Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy services.This post is suited to a therapist who is innovative, driven and wants to improve the lives and outcomes for children and young people.As part of the role, you will have opportunities for Agile working arrangements including the provision of mobile technology and flexible working hours and arrangements. You will benefit from being part of a supportive, experienced group of staff providing a clinically effective service to children and young people and their families in Barnet.                                            Alternative working hours and patterns will be considered for this post.

Main duties of the job

1.         Lead and develop innovative therapy services that support integrated clinical care pathways.

2.           To develop a new Universal core training offer to mainstream schools to meet sensory and motor based needs of children and young people.

3.           To work closely with the Pathway Leads and actively design and implement service development projects across schools.

4.           To maintain a clinical caseload of children and young people in mainstream schools, working as an autonomous practitioner within own specialist area.

5.           To develop effective and evidence-based interventions including targeted programmes while working collaboratively with teaching staff.

6.           To be responsible for organising and prioritising own workload across the service.

  • Clear, concise verbal and written reporting skills
  • Excellent presentation skills of complex information
  • • IT skills including word processing and excel

Knowledge & Experience
