Job overview
We are advertising for one full time position as a Band 3 Emergency Department (ED) & AAU administrator for Barnet Hospital working 37.5 hours a week. The post holder will be expected to work dynamically across both areas of the hot floor in the ED and AAU clinical spaces.
The (ED) and (AAU) administrator(s) are responsible for providing a front-line reception service and administrative function to the hot floor (ED + AAU + AEC + Hot Clinics) and for delivering a high standard of customer care to a wide range of client groups, including the ward’s multi-disciplinary team, patients, relatives and their carers.
The post-holder must play a proactive role in collecting, investigating, verifying and recording a high standard of patient demographic and treatment data. The post holder must accurately and in a timely manner enter such information on the computerised patient information system, to ensure that the trust receives the appropriate level of income for patient activity, avoids the potential clinical risks inherent with inaccurate patient records and is compliant with national NHS targets (e.g. on data quality and length of patient wait).
The post-holder must undertake effective forward planning, to ensure that the administrative needs of the service are met and must carry out a range of effective administration processes to support the delivery of high quality patient care.

Experience

- Experience of working with Cerner, or similar electronic Patient Administration Systems

- Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to use initiative and problem solve, in a busy clinical environment
- Typing and data entry skills
- Good level of computer literacy skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and databases

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
