We have an opportunity at Barnet Hospital to recruit a dynamic Band 7 Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist to become part of our integrated Medical HSEP (Health Services for Elderly People) therapy team 22.5hrs/week. Our team includes therapy support workers, occupational therapists, dieticians, speech and language therapists and physiotherapists. All disciplines are dedicated to providing and improving our excellent quality of care for older patients and those living with frailty and dementia.

The successful candidate should be an enthusiastic and passionate therapist, who is keen to develop their specialist clinical knowledge in frailty as well as their management skills. They should be forward thinking and pro-active with excellent organisational and clinical skills within the fast paced in-patient setting, to facilitate safe discharges and provide excellent quality of care. There are many opportunities to lead on and participate in Quality Improvement projects and assist in setting new directions for our service. Good communication skills and the motivation to encourage and facilitate best practice is required. You will be joining a well established and supportive integrated Therapy team and work closely with, and be supported by, the Clinical Lead and an Advanced Frailty Practitioner. 

It is a requirement for this post to participate in the 7 day working roster and bank holiday cover.

Job Summary:

Responsible for providing clinical leadership to a highly specialised Therapy service on Medical HSEP wards 

To participate in daily operational activities and management, planning, implementation and direction of the Medical HSEP team in conjunction with the clinical lead.

 To provide professional support to qualified staff, students and support staff

To be involved in the strategic planning and policy development for the Medical HSEP service and deputise for the Clinical Lead where necessary.

 The post holder will require highly skilled time management and priority skills due to frequent interruptions of job tasks during the working day and balancing of clinical and operational duties, including service development.

 Ensure clinical effectiveness of therapy intervention incorporating evidence based practice and professional standards.

 The Band 7 therapist will be included in the 7 day working roster, which involves working up to 1 weekend every 4 weeks, plus 2 Bank Holidays per annum. 2 consecutive scheduled days off will be given in the week before or after the weekend worked and Agenda for Change pay enhancements apply.

 To undertake a lead role in the day-to-day management of the Medical HSEP service. This will be in conjunction with other Band 7 therapists with access to the Clinical Lead for Medical HSEP and senior management as required.

 To provide advanced assessment and discharge planning of patients who may have complex and or chronic conditions; interpreting and analysing clinical and non-clinical data to form accurate diagnoses and prognoses; developing comprehensive management and treatment plans, facilitating and ensuring safe discharge
