The individual in this role is expected to support their team, department, and organization in embodying the Trust's Values through their daily activities.
This will be accomplished by providing high-quality, concise, outcome-focused, evidence-based interventions for children and young people (CYP) experiencing mild to moderate mental health challenges, with clinical supervision and support from a CWP supervisor and other qualified clinicians.
The role involves regularly measuring clinical outcomes and providing evidence-based clinical interventions, in accordance with the CYP-IAPT program.
The incumbent must possess a CWP qualification (e.g., Postgraduate Certificate in Child and Young Persons Psychological Wellbeing Practice) or equivalent, demonstrating the necessary knowledge, attitude, and capabilities to function effectively within an inclusive, value-driven service.
The role demands the consistent delivery of a “client-focused” service that promotes excellent customer service and fosters effective working relationships.

As a Children's Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP), you hold a unique role in triaging patients according to their needs and directing them to other services, including voluntary services and Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS). The postholder will collaborate with a broader team dedicated to supporting children, young people, and their families and carers by:
- Establishing connections with other services to ensure children and young people are referred to the most appropriate services for their needs.
- Communicating effectively with children, young people, and their families and carers during the referral process.
- Identifying services that can offer continued support after therapy concludes, such as youth groups.
- Developing a mutual understanding of which referrals are appropriate for CAMHS.

High Cost Area Supplement - Outer London
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,313 to a maximum of £5,436 p.a. pro rata for part time).
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

The appointee will be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team, providing high-quality, brief, outcome-focused, evidence-based interventions for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health issues.
- The appointee will deliver clinical interventions within the care pathways under the supervision of a senior psychological practitioner.
- They will regularly measure clinical outcomes in accordance with the CYP-IAPT program.
- They will promote the mental and emotional health of children, young people, and families in the community through evidence-based clinical interventions.
- They will conduct initial assessments in community settings and provide a range of early interventions for children and young people with various emotional and behavioural difficulties.
- They will offer direct services to children, young people, and their families in an accessible and non-stigmatizing environment, grounded in the best research evidence and within clinical governance.

Qualifications

- NVQ level 2 or equivalent standard of literacy and numeracy
- Successful completion of the HEE commissioned 1yr Children's Wellbeing Practitioner course.
- Appropriate registration with either the BABCP or BPS as a low intensity practitioner.
Experience

- Experience of working therapeutically with parents/carers/families of children and young people with mental health problems
- Experience of carrying out generic assessment with other colleagues in the multi-disciplinary team.Experience of assessment carried out autonomously in order to determine the most appropriate treatment plan from a range of options for the child/young person
- Experience of providing individual interventions with a wide variety of children and young people, from 3 to 19 years old Experience of providing clinical interventions in different cultural contexts

- Knowledge of risk management and ability to monitor and assess risk and act accordingly to ensure safety
