Detailed job description and main responsibilities

About the service

North East London NHS Foundation Trust Community Eating Disorder service offers the latest in evidence based psychological interventions to clients and their families with an Eating Disorder. We offer specialist assessment and treatment across the life span from age 8yrs with no upper age limit. This allows the provision of a range of treatments to those of all ages, for example, where indicated, we can provide systemic therapy to adults.

Whilst we are a community service we have excellent links with local specialist inpatient units. We are interested in adding to the evidence base for new treatments for eating disorders and we are actively involved in research in collaboration with UCL. The team prides itself on the support offered to clinicians as we understand the importance of protected time for supervision and training. Clinicians are offered individual and group supervision for our main treatment modalities, as well as regular safeguarding supervision and monthly reflective practice. We actively support our clinicians to access training opportunities. We will have places available on the National Eating Disorder Services for Adults (EDSA) Whole Team Training in 2022-24 as well as providing opportunities for accredited specialist training in CBT-ED at UCL.

The team base is in Barking, a short distance from an excellent transport hub with tube, train and bus links. There is free secure parking on site. We also operate satellite clinics in Walthamstow and Havering.

We provide an excellent training environment for trainee nurses, counselling and clinical psychologists and family therapists which means that there will be the opportunity for the successful candidate to develop supervision skills. We keep the service user’s progress as a central focus in treatment which allows the development of a positive therapeutic relationship.

We strongly support a good work-life balance and we are happy to discuss flexible and part time working with the successful candidate.
