Job overview
The post holder will play an essential role in supporting the Radiology team. The post holder will also help to organise and maintain the General X-ray service.
Where necessary, in line with all other Band 6 Radiographers the post holder will be expected to complete the Band 6 Competency Assessment.
The post holder will participate in the operational management of the department in conjunction with the Head and Deputies of the Department and other Senior Radiographers.
The post holder will deputise for the Head and Deputies of the Department when required and will maintain effective communication and productive relationships with all stakeholders, upholding the reputation of the Directorate and specialty at all times. They will undertake and perform diagnostic imaging examinations requested to a high level of radiographic skill. The departments offers a 7 day service to its stakeholders and it is a requirement that the post holder take part in the present roster and any on-call rosters or future shift systems.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work in partnership with the Head and Deputies of the Department in assessing the quality of clinical and other practice learning environments. This includes delivering induction, mandatory training and the Radiology competency framework. The post holder will organise and support the delivery of practical and theoretical clinical training programs.
The post holder will support the development of interdisciplinary and cross site working to ensure the sharing of good practice and delivery of high quality, effective and efficient care. They will:
- Contribute to the planning, implementation and delivery of clinical induction and training for a range of registered and unregistered Radiology workforce.
- Work in Partnership with Radiographers, Senior Radiographers, and Deputy Heads and Head of Department.
- Continuously improve standards and the quality of patient care.
- Promote evidence-based practice, wherever possible.
- Assist in the implementation of Radiology protocols and practice guidelines
- Provide high quality care and act as a role model and resource for advice, support and guidance.
- Supervise and maintain accurate records.
- Work with pre and post registration radiographers.
The post holder will also be integral in providing, developing and maintaining radiography service. This will underpin their own competencies and ensure they are able to participate fully in all duties.
