Job overview
This is a specialist clinical role within the Digital Team, relating to patient safety and our electronic patient record (ePR) programme. The post holder will be an experienced clinical practitioner (Nurse/Midwife/AHP) and trained Clinical Safety Officer. The purpose of the Clinical Safety Officer (CSO) role is to implement Clinical Risk Management activities within Digital Services that support the safe development, introduction, and deployment of clinical digital systems. The post-holder will be responsible for coordinating with other Trust teams, to ensure a cooperative approach to digital clinical risk management.
As part of the digital team, the post-holder will ensure that they follow the digital clinical safety strategy and embed assigned clinical safety processes into practice. Working under the guidance of the Chief Nursing Information Officer the post holder will support the completion of clinical safety reviews, assessments and planned interventions for risks associated with digital systems, including the Trusts new electronic patient record (ePR). The role will include engaging teams across the Lincolnshire Integrated Care System to ensure clinical pathways are considered and these requirements addressed within the clinical safety approach to systems deployed and/or decommissioned as part of the ePR programme within ULTH.

Main duties of the job
- As a Clinical Safety Officer/Digital Clinician, the post holder will ensure digital technologies are effectively embedded to support safe, efficient and high quality care.
- To ensure that the Clinical IT system functionality is adhered to, to support practitioners professional standards e.g. the NMC, HCPC or similar codes of conduct.
- To plan clinical risk management activities in support of the development and operation of clinical information systems across the organisation. Facilitate clinical hazard workshops, meetings and other clinical risk management activities as appropriate. This will require assessing complex factors to formulation and adjustment of plans as necessary.
- To support the digital agenda within the Trust and wider ICS.
- Maintain competencies relating to digital leadership by attending regular updates such as local user group initiatives, Clinical reference, and CSO groups. Through both meetings and use of online forums such as the NHS Futures platform.
- Provide professional leadership including motivation of staff regarding the safe use of digital technology and effective risk management.
- Ensure the relevant data is captured and maintained as a collaborative approach with the wider Multidisciplinary team to meet both National and local standards

United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust has been granted teaching hospital status, after demonstrating evidence to significant teaching commitment. From now on it will be known as United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Pilgrim Hospital is situated in beautiful countryside and serves the communities in the South Lincolnshire area. It provides all major specialties and a 24-hour major accident and emergency service.
Grantham and District Hospital serves the communities of Grantham and the local area. It provides ambulatory paediatric and accident and emergency services.
Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) and United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT) have come together in a Group arrangement, with the goal of improving the care provided to patients across the county.
This will not constitute a formal merger of the two organisations, but will bring the Trusts together under a single Board and Executive Leadership Team, with the goal of improving the care that is provided to patients both in the community and in hospitals across Lincolnshire. Both Trusts will retain their separate statutory names and legal obligations.
The Group will be known as Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group (LCHG).

Essential criteria
- Registered Nurse/Midwife or Allied Health Professional (AHP), Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technician or Clinical Scientist
- Clinical Safety Officer Trained/NHS Digital Clinical Safety Accreditation
- Masters in related healthcare discipline or substantial experiential equivalence
- Evidence of continuing professional development

- QSIR training
- Project management training (PRINCE2 or equivalent)
