Job overview

A unique and exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our growing and forward thinking department as a Senior Quality Assurance Technician. The role will involve developing the Quality Assurance aspects of the Pharmacy Aseptic Service as part of the senior aseptic services team.

ULHT has three Pharmacy departments based at Lincoln, Boston and Grantham, with all of these sites providing a Clinical, Dispensary, and Medicines Information Service.

The Pharmacy department has a well-integrated team of Pharmacists, Technicians, Support Workers and Administrative personnel, who provide a pharmacy service to a range of general and specialist areas including Admissions, Medical & Surgical, Haematology & Oncology and Critical Care wards.

In addition to this, ULHT has a new purpose built Aseptic facility located on Lincolnshire Science & Innovation Park, which prepares Chemotherapy, Total Parental Nutrition and CIVAS products for distribution to all hospital sites. The Aseptic facility is due to open in February 2023 and will provide critical treatments for patients across Lincolnshire.

Main duties of the job

Would you like to be involved in the development of our pharmacy aseptic services? Do you have ability to drive forward changes to develop and enhance patient care? Are you up for exciting developments in the way pharmacy aseptic services are delivered? Do you have recent experience in a licensed or unlicensed aseptic unit and in depth knowledge of Quality Assurance and Good Manufacturing Practice? Are you looking for a new opportunity that will enable you to make a difference to patients as well as the staff within the unit?

The post holder will work closely with the Quality Assurance Manager, Production Manager and the Senior Aseptic Technicians and will be involved in the development of a new pharmacy aseptic unit and the development of the quality management system and training. In addition, you will be responsible for the maintenance of the Environmental Monitoring System, the Quality Management Systems, and the operation, performance, supervision and development of the unit.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NVQ Level 3 Pharmacy Technician / Science Manufacturing Technician or equivalent pharmacy qualification
  • Aseptic preparation and dispensing of medicines course
  • Registration as a pharmacy technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Pre and in process checking accreditation (PIPC)
Desirable criteria
  • BTEC Level 4 Professional Diploma in Aseptic Services or equivalent
  • NVQ A1 assessor qualification or equivalent
  • Managerial qualification
  • Product approval accreditation programme (PAAP)
  • Pharmaceutical Technology and Quality Assurance (PTQA) - PgDip / MSc
  • University of Leeds – aseptic short courses
  • Experience performing checking duties in technical services
  • Experience of writing quality documentation
  • Experience of managing deviations and change control processes

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years quality experience in technical services (MS licence / S10 exemption)
