To bolster our efforts and continue to provide high quality, patient focussed services, we are seeking a Consultant to join the Peter Hodkinson Centre, Ellis Ward team, as part of our Adult Inpatient and Urgent Care division. We are looking for a doctor who is passionate and committed to the development of adult psychiatry.
The role is full-time at 10PAs per week, with an additional PA as part of recruitment and retention. We are interested in hearing from anyone who is interested in a flexible working pattern, which would include job share and part time, however, due to the nature of the role there is limited scope for remote working.
Main duties of the job
To provide psychiatric support to Ellis Ward an 18 bed male acute ward. Attending care planning meetings, ward rounds, risk assessment and referral meetings. Attending Mental Health Review Tribunals and Managers’ Hearings. Preparation of reports for case summaries, CPAs, Tribunal/Managers’ Hearings and Discharge Summaries. To be part of a multi-disciplinary team providing services to general adult psychiatry.

Person specification
Qualifications & Eligibility
Essential criteria
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practice
- Included on the GMC Specialist register, or within 6 months of completing
- Approved Clinician status, or able to achieve within 3 months of completing
- MRCPsych or MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists
- DBS clearance
Desirable criteria
- Qualification or higher degree in medical education, clinical research or management
- Willingness to engage with further training in inpatient and urgent care and be compliant with all training
- Additional clinical qualifications
- In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice
