Job overview

Lincolnshire Partnership Foundation Trust Eating Disorders Service is going through a system wide mental health transformation programme in line with the Long-Term Plan (LTP).  This expansion is planned to improve care delivery and parity of esteem between physical and mental health and ensure that everyone in Lincolnshire who is experiencing an eating disorder will receive a service.  This is an exciting time to join the team when we are looking to expand our workforce and train more people to deliver eating disorder therapies across Lincolnshire.

The successful applicant will be offered robust clinical and managerial supervision on a regular basis in order that they may complete their role to the best of their ability with sound knowledge and confidence.  We are committed to staff development and offer a comprehensive induction programme and a wide range of CPD opportunities to enable you to further develop your skills in relation to your role.

We have a fantastic opportunity to recruit someone who has a passion to support service users with an eating disorder to recover.  Experience in eating disorders is not essential as training and guidance will be given to develop your expertise in this area.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Provide a high standard of specialist clinical care, within a discrete Community Eating Disorders Team, to children and young people with Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia, Binge Eating and Atypical Eating Disorders using effective assessments, evidence based treatments via clinical pathways and comprehensive discharge planning using appropriate assessment tools.
  • Deliver evidence based psychological interventions for eating disorders.
  • Act as Care Coordinator under the CPA as required and manage a caseload as an autonomous practitioner.
  • Provide robust risk assessment and management plans, taking appropriate therapeutic risk.
  • Manage case-load and service delivery in accordance with, and in order to contribute towards the attainment of, the Service/Trust productivity requirements, including waiting times.
  • Monitor the effectiveness and side effects of prescribed medication and report appropriately, where required
  • Enable effective joint working and transitions with/to adult eating disorder services as
  • Provide rapid response, in line with service response times, according to urgency of need, working flexibly across the county from a designated base to ensure this, as required.
  • Provide home treatment as required.
  • Deliver care within an extended hour’s provision to support children/young people and their families and improve access to services.
  • Work collaboratively, and promote effective working relationships, with members of the multi-disciplinary team, ensuring effective clinical decision-making, internally and with external agencies.
  • Empower Service Users and their families/carers to influence and use available services, information and skills and act as an advocate where appropriate.
  • Participate in screening of referrals for appropriateness and onward signposting/referral as appropriate.
  • Work in accordance with relevant childcare, health legislation and professional standards in partnership with wider children’s services and to engage fully with Safeguarding, Common Assessment Framework and other processes which requires working together with other agencies
  • Proactively involve young people and families in service development including using service questionnaires to obtain structured feedback.
  • Provide a professional, non-stigmatising service to children and families.
  • Work closely with other colleagues within the service to enable effective transitions to and from other areas
  • Ensure best practice by incorporating NICE guidance and meeting healthcare standards
  • Adhere to Trust Policies in consideration of Children in Need and safeguarding issues and in maintaining accurate and effective written records.
  • To be able to travel independently and work flexibly across the county to support the service, from a designated base.
  • Use outcome measures to evidence effectiveness of treatments provided.
  • Chair both clinical and non-clinical meetings, as required.
  • Propose changes and developments to service delivery and contribute to policy discussions at both team and service level
  • Deliver the developing service and manage any changes.
  • Participate in management and clinical supervision.
  • Actively participate in the delivery of training opportunities for staff and students.
  • Provide support and advice and liaise/engage with partnership agencies, multi-disciplinary teams and the wider community where appropriate.
  • Contribute positively to the achievement of service targets and outcomes.
  • Participate in the planning and delivery of group interventions.
  • Provide a professional, non-stigmatising service to children and families.
  • Develop Band 4 staff and provide supervision/line management on all of the above.
  • Participate in all clinical governance and audit developments including post registration education, training and continuing professional development.

Person specification

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Degree in Mental Health Nursing or equivalent qualification and experience
  • Currently Registered Nurse
  • Evidence of continued professional development
Desirable criteria
  • Training in specific psychological therapies e.g CBT, DBT, EMDR

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working as a Band 6 or equivalent
  • Experience of working in a community mental health setting
  • Proven experience of good working relationships and multi-disciplinary team working
  • Experience of partnership working
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working with eating disorder presentation

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Knowledge of policy and legislation relating to mental health
  • A service user and carer focussed approach to care delivery
