Children's Diabetes Nurse Specialist

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6  to join our  paediatric diabetes community team. The post holder must be an enthusiastic and positive individual, with a can do attitude and demonstrate experience as a paediatric diabetes community nurse.

Paediatric diabetes community nursing is forever evolving and the service requires the post holder to lead the community team and work in partnership with the multidisciplinary team.

This could also be a post 5 development post for an experienced nurse who wishes to progress and be supported in the course.

The post holder will work closely with the Lead Consultant to allow the development and management of the specialist service within their defined practice area, ensuring there is the delivery of high quality clinically effective care by taking a lead role in standard setting, guideline and policy formulation and implementation of national standard requirements for diabetes services.

  • NMC Registered Nurse (Children’s)
  • Health related Bachelor’s Degree (or working towards) with substantial further professional development
  • Diabetes qualification
  • Recognised teaching/mentorship qualification
  • Documented evidence of continuous professional development

  • Clinical assessment skills qualification
  • Basic Counselling skills

Occupational Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years post registration experience within a variety of clinical care settings including work with Diabetic children and their families
