Job overview

Nursery Nurse for the Care of Premature Babies and sick newborn babies at Leicester Royal infirmary.  Supporting the service at Leicester General as required.

 

Main duties of the job

The care and provision of babies in hospital at Leicester royal Infirmary.  Providing family centred care, working closely with the family for early discharge.  Meeting the babies hygiene needs.  Nutritional needs.  Creating a safe environment for them to develop and grow.  Close shared care with nursing and medical teams to plan care and provide a high standard to all patients.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The main responsibilities include care for your allocated patient.  Providing nurturing care to allow babies to progress towards discharge.  Recovery from illness or development of premature systems.  Education for parents so that they have the skills and confidence to care for their baby in the community.   Effective teamwork with hospital based professional and the family to provide excellent care meeting all the patients needs.

Essential criteria
  • Basic Education English and Maths skills
Desirable criteria
  • Grade C and above English and Maths

Hospital Experience

Essential criteria
  • Understanding of hospital Neonatal care
Desirable criteria
  • Worked with Neonates within a hospital Setting
