CONSULTANT UROLOGIST with a specialist interest in core Urology, daycase surgery and the surgical management of  BPH

We have an exciting opportunity to expand our consultant workforce within the Urology Department at the Leicester General Hospital.

Leicester is one of the largest Urology units in the country, with 14 consultants, 6 specialist registrars,  4 specialty doctors and 14 doctors in training.  Our expectation is that over the next 6 months we will have a team of 16 consultant urologists at the Leicester General Hospital.  We also have a team of Physician Associates within our service.

We are looking for a consultant urological surgeon with an interest in core urology, Daycase surgery and the surgical management of BPH.  The East Midlands Planned Care Centre is due to open at the Leicester General Hospital with theatre and clean room access available from December 2024.  This provides an exciting opportunity to ensure we have adequate facilities to continue with our service expansion and will help in the delivery of a more timely service. We already have strong links with our community hospitals and there are opportunities to improve the services we deliver in these units.

The successful candidate will partake in the on-call rota (currently 1:14).

Gweithio i'n sefydliad

Our new strategy, 'Leading in healthcare, trusted in communities' was developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners and is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:
•    high-quality care for all,
•    being a great place to work,
•    partnerships for impact, and
•    research and education excellence

And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:
•    we are compassionate,
•    we are proud,
•    we are inclusive, and
•    we are one team

This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
