Job overview

The Neurology Therapy service in the University Hospitals of Leicester (UHL) have two exciting opportunities to work as a Therapy Support worker at two locations.

The vacancies we have are working within the Therapy team’s who are based on Specialist Neuro Rehabilitation Unit at the Leicester General Hospital (LGH) and the Acute Neurology ward at the Leicester Royal Infirmary (LRI)

The post-holders will work alongside both the Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists providing therapy interventions and assessments on the busy specialist neuro rehabilitation unit. You will be working with patients that have neurological and medical conditions.

You will be expected, when competent, to hold your own caseload of patients completing assessments and devising treatment plans for both Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy. You will work alongside qualified Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists to carry out this treatment and discharge plan for this patient group.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate needs to be able to work well alone and also as part of Team. They need to have good communication skills both verbally and non-verbally and have an understanding of Occupational Therapists and / or Physiotherapists roles. They need to be comfortable performing personal care tasks for patients.

The successful candidate will participate in local training to achieve all pertinent support worker competencies within the first 6 months of employment into this role. We would expect the applicant to demonstrate understanding of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy interventions.

Working for our organisation

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:

  • high-quality care for all,
  • being a great place to work,
  • partnerships for impact, and
  • research and education excellence
And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:

  • we are compassionate,
  • we are proud,
  • we are inclusive, and
  • we are one team
This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
