Main duties of the job

Your Objectives

As a ACT at TrustMed Pharmacy, your primary objective will be to ensure the timely and accurate checking of medications for our outpatient population. Working collaboratively with our team, you will play a crucial role in maintaining stock control, replenishing supplies, and upholding the highest standards of cleanliness and organisation within the dispensary. By fulfilling these objectives, you will contribute to our overarching goal of providing efficient, accurate, and safe patient care.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Your Responsibilities

Your responsibilities as an ACT will include:

1. To abide by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) standards of conduct, ethics and performance, observing and applying all professional, ethical and legal obligations. 
2. To select, label and dispense correct items in accordance with SOPs to ensure safe supply to patients under the supervision of the pharmacist. 
3. To maintain and review drug owings to ensure an effective system of drug supply, through effective communication with relevant pharmacy and hospital staff.

5. Participate in the receipt, dispensing, accuracy checking and balance checks of Controlled Drugs to meet the requirements of the Misuse of Drugs Act (1971) GPhC standards and department procedures. 
6. Checking the accuracy of outpatient prescriptions dispensed by other pharmacy staff, identifying and ensuring correction of all dispensing errors or items not acceptable for release, to prevent these reaching the patient.

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.

The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
