Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic registered nurse or midwife to join the maternity vaccination team her at UHL who will assist in providing a vaccination service to women and their newborns 

Main duties of the job

  • To provide a vaccination service for pregnant women and their newborns  

  • To provide health education around immunisations in pregnancy and beyond. 

  • Use health-related information only for the purposes of what it is intended for and in accordance with the Data Protection Act.  

  • Ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times and information relating to patients/users and personnel is used only in connection with authorised duties.  

  • Carry out designated clerical duties as delegated by the Midwife – Ward Manager, Registered Midwife / other Health care Professional.  

  • Take responsibility for the management of stock levels, ordering of and efficient use of stock, sundries and resources within own work activities.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

· To assist in providing care within the department’s budget by maintaining and handling equipment correctly, using supplies appropriately etc.  

· Be aware of systems of ordering stock and non-stock supplies and resources.  

· Be aware of the individual midwife’s/nurses responsibility for effective use of the Trust’s resources and good time management. 

· To provide support both educationally and clinically to more junior colleagues and students  

· To liaise with all members of the multi- professional team, so assisting with co-ordinating all aspects of the mothers care.  

· Make appropriate referrals to medical staff.  

· To work as a part of a team providing a flexible approach to both patients and colleagues. 

· To support the co-ordination of clinical activity. 

· To follow relevant CMG, Trust, Regional and National policies and guidelines and ensure keep updated with such  

· To support the updating of CMG guidance as requested  

· To maintain a professional manner at all times and abide by legal requirements and statutory rules, relating to practice in accordance with NMC Code of Professional Conduct, and midwives rules if applicable. 

· To communicate clearly with women and their families.  

· Provide non-judgmental and non-directive support and information.  

· Maintain accurate contemporaneous records. 

· Ensure effective communication within appropriate levels of the multi-disciplinary team.  

· Ensure effective use of communication systems within the CMG. 

· Be part of a non-judgemental and supportive environment for colleagues.
