The announcement last year of extra investment in the NHS New Hospitals Programme is great news for the people of Leicester, & wider county.
It has facilitated the new East Midlands Planned Care Centre (EMPCC) at the Leicester General, which opens fully in December 2024 and will treat 100,000 per year once fully operational, improving care & reducing waiting lists.
The EMPCC is a stand-alone unit on the site of the Leicester General Hospital. It includes theatres, recovery beds, day wards, outpatient clinics, procedural rooms.
The successful applicant will work across several multi-disciplinary teams, across all the different specialties, liaising with the wider organisation to facilitate a high quality, safe medicines management service.
The successful candidate will need to be dynamic, hardworking & enthusiastic with capacity to work autonomously.
Applications are invited from individuals who consider themselves a strong leader with excellent communication skills, who are visible and accessible.
Evidence of extensive hospital experience including leadership and management skills as well as being able to establish credible working relationships quickly and hold excellent organisational skills are essential.

Gweithio i'n sefydliad
Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).
We have four primary goals:
- high-quality care for all,
- being a great place to work,
- partnerships for impact, and
- research and education excellence
And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.
Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:
- we are compassionate,
- we are proud,
- we are inclusive, and
- we are one team
This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
