Diabetic Eye Screening Programme - Screener/ Grader

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Diabetic Eye Screening Programme (LLR DESP) as a Screener/Grader. Our team operates daily screening clinics at a variety of sites across the LLR area.

The successful individual would join the team as a trainee Screener/Grader at band 3, progressing to band 4 salary and permanent position on completion of the Level 3 Diploma for Health Screeners. Practical training in retinal imaging (photography) will take place at a range of venues across the LLR area, whilst grading training will take place at our main offices at the Leicester General Hospital, Leicester. Study and assessments will take place at the Leicester General Hospital. The Level 3 Diploma consists of e-learning, written work and practical skills assessments, and can usually be completed in about 12 months. Persons already possessing the relevant Diploma certificate (or previous City and Guilds diploma) are welcome to apply and if successful would join the team as a band 4.

Please ensure you can provide evidence of the required qualifications, as you will be expected to present these at your id check appointment if successful.

Gweithio i'n sefydliad

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:

  • high-quality care for all,
  • being a great place to work,
  • partnerships for impact, and
  • research and education excellence

And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:

  • we are compassionate,
  • we are proud,
  • we are inclusive, and
  • we are one team

This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
