Senior Clinical Coder

Band 5

We are actively promoting flexible working options, helping you to manage a work / life balance

Job overview

Are you currently a clinical coder interested in joining a busy and high performing
team at the University Hospitals of Leicester?
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified clinical coder looking to advance their
career within the profession. We are looking for an enthusiastic and flexible
individual who is able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
At UHL we are excited to recruit a high calibre individual to join our clinical coding
team. We have a diversity of specialties across three hospital sites therefore we can
offer a varied role. Remote working is available to the successful candidate and
currently we offer additional weekend working at an enhanced rate of pay.

Main duties of the job

Clinical coding is a high profile area of work and our team collects data about every
inpatient who visits the Trust, investigating all aspects of their journey. Our role is
essential for the effective management of the Trust and directly influenced patient
care.
We have an Experienced Approved Clinical Coding Trainer and two Approved Clinical
Coding Auditors in the team, meaning that full audit, validation and training support
is available.

Working for our organisation

Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

We have four primary goals:
high-quality care for all,
being a great place to work,
partnerships for impact, and
research and education excellence.

And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.

Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:
we are compassionate,
we are proud,
we are inclusive, and
we are one team

This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
