Location: Hybrid Model. Locality satellite offices are available across Lancashire as well as the option to work remotely

This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Clinical Psychologist to work within Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust and Lancashire County Council as part of the Family Safeguarding Service.

The Family Safeguarding Service aims to keep the highest risk children and families in Lancashire together safely, improve health and educational outcomes for the children and reduce physical and emotional harm in families. The teams are multi-disciplinary and co-located within Children's Social Care and are made up of social care practitioners and adult specialists to work with parents in relation to domestic abuse, mental health and substance misuse.

The multi-disciplinary teams will work together to support families to keep together where it is safe to do so.  Our teams have a focus on a motivational interviewing approach to support families and empower and engage parents to make the positive changes needed to achieve improved outcomes for their children and their own wellbeing.

The Senior Clinical Psychologist will work as part of the Multi-Disciplinary Teams and Services provided by adult specialists to parents/carers.

Main duties of the job

The post will be professionally linked to a large and supportive psychology network within the Trust. We also have strong links with the local Clinical Psychology doctorate programmes.

And some examples of the duties that will be expected are;

-       To provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to the parent’s formulation and treatment plan.

-       To provide specialist psychological assessments of parents to inform intervention planning.

-       To be responsible for implementing a range of psychological interventions adjusting and refining psychological formulations drawing upon different explanatory models and maintaining a number of provisional hypotheses.

-       To provide clinical supervision for Mental Health Practitioners, Assistant Psychologists and Trainee Clinical Psychologists.

-       To work with the Consultant Clinical Psychologist to plan and deliver training, MDT support and consultation, as required.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or equivalent for those who trained prior to 1996, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the BPS.

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • An increased level of knowledge relevant to this post equivalent to a post-graduate diploma (in addition to entry level qualification)
  • Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by the BPS by completion of CPD log demonstrating a minimum of 40 hours per year.
  • Knowledge of legislation relevant to the patient group

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of patients across a range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in patient settings
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of patient groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse
  • Demonstrable evidence of a continuing commitment to developing expertise in psychological assessment and intervention
