Clinical Nurse Specialist

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is situated on the west coast of Lancashire, with services covering the local authority areas of Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre. The Trust is part of the Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care System (ICS) supporting a population of around 1.6 million people.

We have three main hospitals providing acute services to around 330,000 local residents. The organisation also provides specialist tertiary care for cardiac and haematology services, delivers community health services to over 445,000 residents including those in North Lancashire and hosts the National Artificial Eye Service across England. Plus, we provide urgent and emergency care services to an estimated 18 million people who visit the seaside resort each year. We employ over 7000 people from 68 different countries.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and dynamic nurse to join our team as a band 7 clinical nurse specialist.  This post is a ideal opportunity for a skilled nurse looking to develop a specialist nursing career in Haematology.  

The post holder will be based at Lancashire Teaching Hospital and will work collaboratively with the haematology MDT and other relevant member of the cancer team. 

The post holder must have previous experience in haematology and possess excellent communication skills.

  • Assess patients and plan, implement and evaluate care using specialist clinical knowledge and skills
  • Review patients and provide care in inpatient, outpatient and day unit settings
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary approach to patient management
  • Provide education and support to patients, carers and colleagues
  • Participate in audit, research and service development within the Haematology service.

.Perform assessment of patients nursing needs, plan, implement and evaluate care delivery using specialist clinical knowledge and clinical skills.

  • Coordinate care for a patient caseload providing specialist assessment, planning and evaluation.
  • To support, assist and encourage the multi-disciplinary team in resolving patient problems, by the provision of new and innovative models of case management.
  • Participate in consultations on and develop strategies for delivering effective care within a changing environment that improves the quality of care and health outcomes in the specialist area.
  • Act as an innovative, enthusiastic role model providing leadership, guidance and advice to staff on operational and professional issues promoting an open and honest and transparent culture.

  • Registered nurse (1st level +minimum Diploma)
  • Has / working towards degree in health related subject or equivalent
  • Teaching and assessing qualification

Experience

  • Substantial post registration experience in cancer related area
