On 1st April 2020, North Manchester General Hospital became part of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT) under a new management agreement. The Northern Care Alliance NHS Group will continue to support North Manchester with its recruitment and workforce requirements until the service is formally transferred into MFT. North Manchester General Hospital has a vibrant future ahead as it works with MFT to provide better care for patients and their families in the local community and across Greater Manchester.  Plans to create an innovative health campus which will see a new hospital build and the development of a ‘wellbeing hub’ that will bring health and economic benefits to the wider community.

Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a  Leg Ulcer and Treatment Rooms Nurse Specialist to work within the north Manchester Community Services, part of Manchester Local Care Organisation.  We are looking for someone with a passion for the delivery of the best possible for our patients. A qualification in or working towards Leg Ulcer Management qualification  is essential.

The successful candidate should be able to work independently as well as part of a team and have excellent communication skills as well as the physical skills, effort and manual dexterity required to carry out all aspects of Leg Ulcer management. You must be innovative, forward thinking, self-driven with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.   You will have excellent standards of patient care and documentation.

This service seeks a positive team player with excellent abilities to prioritise workload and manage time effectively.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will lead the Leg Ulcer and Treatment Rooms services, demonstrating a high level of knowledge and expertise in leg ulcer and wound management.  Change management and leadership skills are essential along with a positive, can-do attitude. Motivation of staff and staff development are important aspects of the role, achieved through being visible within the services and demonstrating high standards of professionalism and clinical skills. 

The team are friendly and hard-working, delivering a high-standard of care to the diverse population of north Manchester.
