If you are looking for an exciting opportunity to work within the growing integrated community stroke and neurorehabilitation service across the Fylde Coast, this could be the post for you!

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist, with an ability to build upon their existing experience to support the management of complex patients and the development of high quality clinical pathways.  

You will work within an established multi-disciplinary team, including Neuropsychology,  Physiotherapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Dietetics, Rehabilitation Assistants and Admin Support.

You will work closely alongside the profession specific Team Leaders and the Service Manager in planning, co-ordinating, delivering and evaluating the service, to ensure high quality care for patients.

You will be provided with a laptop to enable remote working where appropriate and a good work-life balance. You will be supported with your learning and development, to enhance your career aspirations and enable high standards of rehab to be embedded across the service.

The successful candidate will have a range of therapy skills and experience working with patients with complex stroke & neurological presentations to determine  appropriate treatment plans and interventions.

The post holder will work closely with the clinical lead,  fellow therapists, consultants, MDT members, relatives and carers to ensure high quality, patient-centred rehabilitation for patients.

To be professional, legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of the work undertaken, including the management of the patients treated and to ensure a high standard of clinical expertise is delivered.

Be responsible for the supervision and co-ordination of junior staff, students and assistants on a daily basis.

Ensure that your own practice and that of staff under your supervision meet the required professional standards of practice.

To be responsible for organising and planning own caseload to meet service and patient priorities. Readjusting plans as situations change/arise.

To maintain own clinical professional development (CPD) by keeping abreast of any new trends and developments and incorporate them as necessary into your work.

To be an active member of the in-service training programme by the attendance and delivery of presentations and training sessions at staff meetings, tutorials, training sessions inhouse and by attending external courses and practising reflective practice.

To communicate effectively and work collaboratively within the clinical setting, to ensure delivery of a co-ordinated multi-disciplinary service.

To undertake the measurement and evaluation of your work and current practices through the use of Evidence Based Practice.

To demonstrate a sound understanding of Clinical Governance and Risk Management and to apply to work situations.

You will have responsibility for the continuing professional development and overall performance of Band 6 & Band 5 therapy staff, support staff and students.

The candidate must be an autonomous practitioner with excellent organisational skills, flexibility and time management skills in order to work within this busy service. 

Various training and development opportunities are available including protected CPD time, supervision and an individualised job plan.

The service is planning to run a 6-day service (in the first instance, once fully established), so you need to be able to work weekends and bank holidays on a rota basis.

Applicants will need to have access to a car and hold a full UK Driving License.

  • HCPC registered
  • Accredited fieldwork educator
  • Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio, including attendance at recent post graduate courses relevant to the specialty

EXPERIENCE

  • Extensive relevant clinical post-graduation experience, with substantial knowledge in rehabilitation
  • Advanced postgraduate experience in the field of rehabilitation
  • Management development and supervision of junior staff/students/therapy assistants
  • Experience of audit process
  • Experience at a senior level working with consultants, in the field of rehabilitation
  • Experience of computer based data collection systems
  • Full UK driving licence
