If so, we have an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join our Infant Feeding specialist team at Bolton.

We are looking for a motivated, experienced and compassionate midwife to join our service. You will have excellent communication skills & clinical knowledge and a commitment to delivering personalised care to the women and families in our community.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be a registered midwife who will act as a role model for promoting, supporting and protecting infant feeding services across Bolton NHS Foundation Trust.

They will work to ensure that nationally recognised standards are met and support our journey to UNICEF BFI re-accreditation. They will advise and support all staff in relation to infant feeding and demonstrate a high level of competence in the speciality. They will be expected to broaden their remit as appropriate in line with current evidence base, knowledge and training.

They will make decisions based upon knowledge and experience in respect of the woman, her baby and family, and be accountable for those decisions. They will participate in facilitating that all staff in the service receive adequate training commensurate with their role to enable them to provide competent care in the area of infant feeding.

The post holder will promote and participate in the provision of the Midwifery/nurse led tongue tie service and will undertake training and continuing professional development as required by the post.

Qualifications, Training and Professional Development

Essential criteria
  • • Degree or higher degree in Midwifery or equivalent
  • • NMC Registered Band 6 Midwife
  • • Evidence of Continued Professional Development
  • • Competent in frenulotomy and tongue-tie management or prepared to undertake necessary training
Desirable criteria
  • • International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) or willingness to work towards qualification
  • • Mentorship Qualification or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria
  • • Experience of participation in clinical audit
  • • Working autonomously and as part of a team
  • • Acting as a role model, inspiring change and motivating others
  • • Identifying risks and escalating to appropriate services or individuals
  • • Care planning and holistic woman centred practice
  • • Developing own midwifery practice and striving for excellence within sphere of work, promoting the same for others
