Staff Nurse - Burnley Urgent Treatment Centre

Band 5

At East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust our vision is to be widely recognised for providing safe, personal and effective care.  We currently provide high quality services and treat over 600,000 people across East Lancashire and the surrounding area. We employ over 9,500 staff, many of whom are internationally renowned and have won awards for their work.

Job overview

We are looking to recruit a committed, enthusiastic and flexible Staff Nurse to join our team at the Urgent Treatment Centre at Burnley General Hospital.

Burnley UTC is a friendly, organised and welcoming environment.  We pride ourselves in our multidisciplinary team approach.  We will offer you guidance, support and encouragement.  If you invest in us, we will invest in you.

This is a rotational post. You will be required to work at the Minor Injury Unit at Accrington Victoria Hospital and rotate to Royal Blackburn Emergency Department if required.  The post involves the working of shift patterns; long days, twilights and nights.

This is a rare opportunity and we welcome your interest.

Main duties of the job

We are a very busy UTC covering a diverse population.  We are looking for a self-motivated nurse who's committed, flexible and approachable.

You will care for both adults and children who attend with a range of injuries and illnesses.  You will be expected to provide and promote the highest standards of care, with a passion and commitment for managing our patients with the upmost dignity and respect.  You need to be a team player with the ability to respond to the demands of a rapidly changing environment.

The successful candidate will need to be experienced within an urgent care setting and be triage trained due to the rotation.

You will be offered a period of supernumerary time in which you will be supported by a workplace mentor, practice educators, the senior nursing team alongside experienced clinicians.

Working for our organisation

East Lancashire Hospital Trust is a patient focused organisation, committed to the delivery of safe, personal and effective care.

Dear Potential Applicant,

It is important you are made aware of the changes which East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust has implemented with regard to charging for the cost of undertaking Disclosure and Barring Scheme (DBS) Checks (previously known as Criminal Records Bureau or CRB) and how this may impact upon you.

As this position is exempted from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and involves work that is identified as a regulated activity as defined in the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act (2006), any offer of employment is provisional upon a satisfactory DBS check being obtained.

The cost of an Enhanced Disclosure will be £48.00, which includes a small handling fee.

In line with other NHS organisations in the North West Region, the Trust is now passing the charge for undertaking a DBS check on to candidates in the event they are successfully appointed into the post for which they have applied.  Candidates can choose whether to pay this over 1-3 months as a deduction from the monthly salary.  By applying for this vacancy you are agreeing to this undertaking in the event you are successfully appointed.
