Job overview
An opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 6 Physiotherapist to join the MSK Outpatient Physiotherapy team based within the MSK Therapy Service, across various health centres and GP practices in the Bolton area.
Are you a passionate Physiotherapist who is committed to service development and dedicated to collaborative working?
You must have completed core rotations as a Band 5 Physiotherapist to gain an insight into non MSK conditions that could present as masqueraders, have recent relevant experience within a musculoskeletal field, and a keen desire to learn and develop.
Main duties of the job
You must have knowledge in the assessment and treatment of MSK conditions and clinical skills based on evidence based practice.
The successful candidates would need to be flexible to work across the community setting and be confident to loan work.
The post holder must have excellent communication skills and be committed to CPD. You will be working alongside experienced Physiotherapists , Occupational therapists and assistant staff. You will manage your own caseload so need excellent time management skills.
It is essential the post holder is a driver with access to a vehicle for work purposes, subject to provision of Equality Act 2010
You will also have the opportunity to develop leadership skills being involved in the supervision and appraisal of staff and the recruitment process. You will be required to support the clinical leaders and contribute to service development in the team. As a clinical educator you will help supervise students on placement to the team.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
- To work as an autonomous practitioner within the MSK service supported by highly specialist therapists.
- To undertake therapeutic MSK assessments of patients within the clinical setting with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions, to provide a diagnosis and develop and deliver individualised treatment programmes.
- To manage a defined caseload, using evidence based, client centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
- To provide clinical education, advice and support for junior therapy staff and support staff.
- To provide specialist knowledge, skills and advice to clients, and be a source of expertise for therapy staff, other members of the MDT and other agencies.
- To supervise, educate and assess the performance of therapy students.
- To contribute to service research and audit activities.
- To propose any service changes within own professional speciality area

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy
- Registration with the HCPC
- Evidence of CPD through maintenance of a portfolio
Desirable criteria
- Completion of Clinical Educators course
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of managing a caseload of patients with acute and chronic conditions
- Completion of core rotations as a band 5 physiotherapist
Desirable criteria
- Experience of assessing and treating patients with barriers to communication
- Relevant NHS experience
Skills
Essential criteria
- Ability to use and apply a range of treatment techniques and approaches
- Ability to oraganise, prioritise and delegate as appropriate
Desirable criteria
- Conflict resolution skills
Knowledge
Essential criteria
- Knowledge of a range of MSK conditions and their management
- Ability to manage a caseload of complex needs
- Understanding of goverance and evidence based practice

- Car owner/driver
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends basedon the needs of the service

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
