Part time 22.5 hours per week. Permanent post.

A Band 7 (Advanced Optometrist) to work in the Optometry Department at the Royal Bolton Hospital. Working in Glaucoma clinics, other extended role clinics and core Optometry clinics which could include paediatric refraction, LVA assessment and Contact Lenses.

Main duties of the job

This job will involve working as part of the Glaucoma Team  and the Optometry Team which comprises 8 members. The main duties will include patient assessment, and admin related to patient care such as ordering of magnifiers.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The post holder will be a registered Optometrist responsible for providing Optometric and Glaucoma Services for delivery of high standards of optometry and clinical care to patients.  They will be responsible for equipment and stock within budget limits.  They will advise and support staff.  They will demonstrate a high level of competence in the specialty and be expected to broaden their remit in line with current evidence based knowledge and training. They will make decisions based upon knowledge in respect of patient care and be accountable for those decisions.

They will work closely with other disciplines.  The post holder may be required to rotate to other areas within the department as required and ensure that the Trust’s values are at the heart of all decisions made and behaviours displayed.

Essential criteria
  • GOC Registration
  • BSc(Hons) degree in Optometry

Experience

Essential criteria
  • HES experience
  • Experience working with visually impaired patients and others with learning difficulties.
Desirable criteria
  • Working towards a higher qualification
  • Experience in Paediatric clinics
  • Experience in LVA clinics
  • Experience in CL clinics
