VACANCY FOR A BAND 3 BOOKING CLERK

9 month fixed term/secondment 

Applications are invited from enthusiastic, bright, and motivated individuals to join the Endoscopy bookings team for a secondment opportunity at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust.

This will be a great opportunity for someone that wants to gain experience to take that next step in their career or try a different role.

We are looking for outstanding, experienced individuals who will become key parts of, and make positive contributions to our highly performing team.

Applicants must have a high standard of literacy and numeracy and excellent keyboard skills. High level understanding and working knowledge of computer systems is essential in this role. Knowledge of RTT and performance targets are essential for this role.

This is an exciting and highly rewarding role in a dynamic department. The Endoscopy department is performing highly and this role provides an excellent opportunity for individuals who would like to develop their career in the NHS.

This role would suit experienced bookings clerks looking to work in an exciting new area, or for someone looking to build their career in the NHS. As part of the role you will receive on-going training and development as well as support to fulfil your potential.

To provide an efficient and effective booking service and associated function to all patients accessing Endoscopy services 

  • Ensure all areas work to the agreed standards in terms of appointing, data recording and management of patients on their pathway, using all appropriate Trust systems such as    Le2.2, Choose and Book, Somerset and waiting lists.

 

 

Gweithio i'n sefydliad

The endoscopy unit sits within the Acute  Adult  Division.  It consists of 4 endoscopy rooms providing 44 sessions over 7 days, including 3 sessions run by respiratory medicine, 6 bowel screening lists and 2 ERCP lists which are carried out in the radiology department but are staffed by endoscopy.  Al endoscopy lists are pooled and patients will not necessarily be scoped by the referring Consultant.  There is a separate decontamination unit within HSDU

We are the lead hospital for the National Bowel Cancer Screening programme covering Bolton, Salford and Wigan.

The endoscopy unit provides both an inpatient and outpatient service for patients requiring endoscopic procedures, comprising:

  • Diagnostic/therapeutic Gastroscopy
  • Diagnostic/therapeutic Colonoscopy
  • Diagnostic/therapeutic Flexible Sigmoidoscopy
  • ERCP

  • Ensure patient information is handled and held appropriately and in adherence with local and nationally agreed formats.
  • Works within all access targets and all Trust targets and can inform their line manager on any issues likely to affect performance, discussing ways in which reassurance can be obtained that targets will be met.
  • The post holder will work flexibly throughout the day as the service requires, providing cross cover as needed.
  • The post holder will ensure that all correspondence handled by the department is
  • processed within agreed time frames.
  • The post holder will work with clinical and non-clinical colleagues to ensure services
  • provided are meeting needs and expectations.
  • The post holder will understand the entire patient pathway and booking processes to
  • enable them to support the Clerical Officers to complete their roles. 
  • They will help gather and produce information on data collection and recording
  • identifying any issues which may affect the Trusts performance and they will actively
  • work with the staff to implement any remedial actions introduced.

  • Good level of education/GCSE incl. English Language and Maths GCSE grade C or above
  • NVQ II or equivalent, or willing to work towards this qualification

  • • Excellent communication skills when dealing with patients, their relatives/carers & other outside agencies either by telephone/letter or face to face contact
