We are looking for an NHS Deputy Breast Screening Manager to work in our breast screening services at the Royal Bolton Hospital.

The role will include supporting the Breast Screening Office Manager which will include a variation of leadership, management, performance, quality, governance and co-ordination of the screening services.

Main duties of the job

The Deputy Breast Screening Office Manager is responsible for providing high quality administration and clerical support to the Breast Screening Office Manager and deputising in her absence.  The Breast screening office  provides  administrative functions for the Breast Screening Programme. The screening admin team are responsible for overseeing the process of sending invitation letters to women eligible for screening using the National Breast Screening System, based on lists derived from the BS Select system and for making sure all women receive the right result following their screening episode.

You'll build relationships with, and work closely with the  Director of Screening ,Screening Office Manager and Programme Manager as well as the clinical and imaging teams.

The role will include aspects of human resource responsibility, ensuring all administrative staff appraisals are completed on time and mandatory training is kept up to date. Keeping health roster up to date approving annual leave and managing sickness.

Provide ongoing training for staff on new guidance and conducting inductions with new starters to the team.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • • GCSE’s including Maths & English or equivalent •ECDL • Supervisory Experience
Desirable criteria
  • Team leading /ILM qualification , Educated to A level / HNC / NVQ or equivalent

Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • General administrative & clerical duties knowledge of using multiple databases and excel,. Knowledge of writing and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures. Knowledge of implementing change / new processes.
Desirable criteria
  • Interest in Breast Care Issues. An understanding of the Breast Screening Programme and Very High Risk Screening Programme. Use of Hospital Systems or knowledge such as NBSS , ICE, CRIS, LE2.2. Knowledge of the NHS

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively with patients, staff and health professionals. Ability to manage multiple tasks, plan and prioritise a busy workload. Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines/achieve KPI'S

General

Essential criteria
  • Reliability and professional approach. conscientious and confident in own ability. Well motivated Must have tact and understand the importance of confidentiality. Ability to travel to meetings/satellite units if required.
Desirable criteria
  • Ability to work flexibly when required. Commitment to learning and development of self and others.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Significant management /supervisory experience. Excellent keyboard skills with substantial experience of using Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook. Clerical experience within an office environment. Clear understanding and ability to input data and information accurately. Previous experience as working as part of a team. Skills in managing and prioritising own workload.
