This is a great opportunity for someone who is wanting a career in communications as they will support the planning and delivery of internal and external communications at the Trust.

It is a busy organisation and no two days are the same, which means communication activity is varied, dynamic and provides lots of opportunity to be creative.

From social media campaigns through to sourcing stories for internal newsletters through to assisting the delivery of events, the Communications Assistant is involved in a wide range of communications.

This is a Band 3 role with an associated development leading to Band 4, so the successful candidate must be committed to completing a personal development plan.

This is a junior communications role that will support day-to-day activity in the communications team.

This will include the production of press releases, internal and external newsletters, posters and presentations, social media activity, arranging meetings and events, and distribution of communications.

The post holder will work as part of a dynamic team to communicate with and secure the engagement of the local community, stakeholders and the colleagues at ELHT.

Swydd ddisgrifiad a phrif gyfrifoldebau manwl

  • Support the communications team in the delivery of an effective communications service by commissioning, writing and co-ordinating compelling Trust related articles for use in internal and external publications, social media and web platforms.
  • Support the communications press office function by maintain an accurate record of all media enquiries ensuring they are logged, answered or referred on.
  • Draft press releases and non-contentious statements for authorisation by Head of Communications.
  • Maintain the photo library and consent forms.
  • Ensure that corporate information is kept up to date on the intranet and website.
  • Be responsible for sourcing and creating new social media content that promotes the Trust and its events, creating captivating campaigns.
  • Produce media and social media reports for informing the Board of activity (proactive and reactive) on a monthly basis.
  • Facilitate individual communications campaign plans and co-ordinate a range of support communications activities such as internal and external communications.
  • Plan, organise and promote key communications events such as awareness days. Develop case studies which can be used in newsletters, press releases, website and social media platforms.
  • Undertake photography/video recording for events, for specific publications and for the website and social media.
  • Undertake surveys or audits, as necessary to own work e.g. campaign evaluation, internal communications surveys.

  • Level 3 qualification which can include: i. 2 or more A-levels ii. NVQ3 iii. Level 3 awards, diplomas and certificates
  • Significant previous experience within an administrative or communications role
  • Full UK driving license

  • Journalism or content production training – either written or video format

Experience

  • Previous experience of working within a communications environment
  • Experience of producing engaging content for internal or external audiences
  • Experience of managing social media accounts
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Windows and Office
  • Previous experience of editing website content through a content management system (CMS) e.g. Wordpress or evidence of technical

  • Experience of running online events (eg Microsoft Teams)
  • Experience of planning and organising communication-led events (for example official launches, media visits or awards)

Knowledge and skills

  • Understanding of the principles of communications and media, including the development of messages and campaigns
  • Keyboard skills for designing content and presentations
  • Knowledge of the healthcare
