Do you want to be part of a rapidly developing service? and are you committed to improving the lives of Children, Young People and their families?
In a period of exciting change, South Cumbria CAMHs are looking to recruit a full time Band 5 CAMHS Practitioner to complement the wider multi-disciplinary CAMHs; a busy, friendly service providing a range of treatment approaches to children and young people 0 – 18yrs including CBT, EMDR, psychiatry, psychology and IPT. We also work in close collaboration with partner agencies. This is a development role ideal for newly qualified (or new to CAMHS) registered practitioner. Once the post-holder has completed a minimum of 12 months clinical practice in CAMHS and met associated competencies there will be opportunities to progress to a Band 6 Senior CAMHS Practitioner role.
We work with children, young people and families up to the age of 18years presenting with a wide range of moderate to severe, emotional and mental difficulties. Experience of working with children and young people with mental health difficulties would be an advantage.
We are committed to ongoing continuous professional development of our staff and as a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to be involved in various training initiatives, including CYPIAPT.

1. Work within the THRIVE model of prevention and promotion of positive emotional health and well-being in addition to acute mental health intervention. This role will mainly work with children and young people in the ‘Getting Help’ domains of the model.
2. Develop good working relationship with children, young people and their families to promote collaborative working partnerships with children, young people, their families and other professionals.
3. Undertake the role of Case Manager and manage a defined caseload of children and young people with emotional and mental health needs
1. Have detailed understanding of the Mental Health Act, the Childrens Act, Gillick Competency, Human Rights Act, Mental Capacity Act any other legislation relevant to the role.
