An exciting opportunity has arisen to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated person to undertake the role of a Nursery Nurse.  We are e looking for highly motivated members of staff to join our very busy Paediatric team within the Children’s Emergency Department at Tunbridge Wells Hospital.

Infants, children and young people deserve the highest quality urgent and emergency care. You will join a dedicated team of experienced and motivated nurses. You will carry out duties working alongside Medical and Paediatric Nursing staff to ensure a high quality of patient centred care is delivered to children and families from 0 to 16 years.

Good communication skills towards babies, children, young people and colleagues and the ability to organise allocated work is an essential component for this post. You will be expected to maintain confidentiality and adopt a positive attitude towards staff, children and families at all times, in accordance with Trust policies and procedures, referring issues to their Line Manager as appropriate.

The role will be located in Children’s Emergency Department, located at the Trust’s Tunbridge Wells site; however, there may be requirements to travel to the Maidstone Hospital site. The post-holders will be supported to achieve their competencies to fulfil the requirements of the role.

Qualifications

  • NVQ/Diploma level 3 in Healthcare (or equivalent healthcare qualification) or successful completion of a level 3 Healthcare Support Worker apprenticeship.
  • Functional skills English and maths level 2 or GCSE English and maths grades A*/9 – C/4.

Experience and Knowledge

  • Minimum of 2 years full-time equivalent experience as a Healthcare Support Worker/Trainee in a care setting.
  • Knowledge of the Code of Conduct for Healthcare Support Workers and Adult Social Care Workers (2013).
  • Knowledge of the common conditions/illnesses/complex needs of patients within the appropriate clinical specialty.
  • Insight into role and responsibilities of post.
  • Able to describe the importance of delivering high quality care to patients.
  • Knowledge of basic baby/child care skills
  • Understanding of child development
  • Understanding of equal opportunities
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality
  • Ability to demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills
