An opportunity has arisen for a part time IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) Co-ordinator working as job share within the Nursing Allied Health Administration Unit working at Tunbridge Wells Hospital.


An excellent range of secretarial and administrative skills, including a solid knowledge of medical terminology, audio typing experience and excellent customer care experience are essential. The ability to organise your day and work as part of a team are also required. Applicants should be confident, self-motivated and be able to demonstrate good communication and organisational skills, along with a flexible approach to duties. The applicant should be able to demonstrate an interest to learn new skills. 

Main duties of the job

Working with job share IBD Co-ordinator situated at Maidstone Hospital ensuring good communication and team work.

Manage telephone enquires.

Ensure IBD Nurse clinic letters are typed within 10 day KPI, tests and relevant follow up recorded.

Ensure MDT letters are typed and necessary actions instigated.

Maintain and book all  IBD nurse clinics ensuring waiting list is admin validated and cleansed, cancelling clinics sometimes at short notice  and reinstating clinics as necessary.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • 5 GCSE level or equivalent including Maths and English Language
  • RSA typing level 2 or equivalent
Desirable criteria
  • Relevant administrative or secretarial training

Experience/Knowledge

Essential criteria
  • Customer care experience
  • Experience in a secretarial post
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of working in a medical setting

Skills

Essential criteria
  • Electronic systems (excel/word) and databases
  • Audio typing (60 to 70 wpm)
Desirable criteria
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of gastroenterology
